Spring training is over and the Tigers have as many question marks as they did going into last season. It appears that they have good starting pitching depth, but as we all know, that is never the case. They may have the worst infield defense in the AL. In the outfield, going into spring training it looked like they were all set, but now it's a mess. Their best defensive OF is likely going to be out until June.

In the off season, their biggest need was at 3B. The only position in the infield that they appeared to have a long term solution for was at 2B (since they committed to Keith for 7 years). So, they signed the only 2B that played worse defense than Keith last year. Their backup plan at 3B is injured. They did sign a 37 year old starting pitcher out of retirement...of course he is injured too. They got Flaherty back but he's another injury waiting to happen.

I am not bullish on this season. I think that the Tigers over achieved last year, and were very lucky to get into the playoffs. I think they will regress this season, finish at or near .500, and miss the playoffs.

I'm hoping for 83-87 wins but .500 might be right. Pitching seems great. Hitting and defending seem suspect. Still can't Believe they will not cut Baez.

I'm not sure what my expectations are since I have zero clue what direction this front office is moving the team. The most head scratching off-season I've ever seen from a team that took a giant leap last season.

Seems like they took a long and questionable path to improve the off season, and too many position changes. Injuries have something to do with these players who look mediocre at best on paper. There looks like a lot of righty lefty matchups until the regulars come back healthy. I think they will be trying to climb out of a hole the early part of the season and finish a few games under or above .500 whether they make the playoffs or not.
