Highest percentage of all 50 states & globally...haha!!

Is that due to the Miggy factor?

Closest were OR with 56%, AK with 55%, and MO with 54%...the last of course being Albert's former home team's (St. Louis Cards ) state . Most states were ~50% with a few upper mid/north-western being as low as 47%.

Figured that maybe WA state and/or TX would be the highest, since both contain fans of division-rival teams.

But then what level of high enough (or low..esp on defense) seasonal stats are required for most baseball fans (outside of sabermetricians) consider a positional player to be "elite"?

.300 or higher BA?

100+ RBIs?

30+ homers?

<100 Ks per 500 PAs or ABs?

.400 or higher OBP?

.900 or higher OPS?

Top 5 in fewest errors committed by position?

Fielding PCT of .950 or higher?

This is exactly why the Tigers should let Miggy walk after his contract is up. The Tigers will have Miggy in his peak years. Anything after his current contract will be declining years.

Pujols decline is because of an injury. If he was healthy he's still going to be very productive, maybe not elite, but pretty good.

And Cabrera in decline is still better than many players.

Well, Pujols is in decline because of age too, though right now its certainly more the injuries than his age. But you're right in that his decline is still going to be much better for the next few years than most other 1st basemen in the league, as long as he can get healthy again.

Frankly, I agree overall though; I dont think he has any elite seasons left in him. He will likely still have some very good seasons left, but even if he comes back next season 100% healthy, he's still going to be at least 34 (maybe older, given the rumors about his age that I dont quite take seriously), and even without injury he's been on the decline the last few years.

I think it was stupid of the Angels to sign him to such a ridiculously long contract, because by the end of it he'll be at least 40 years old and wont be worth anything near what he'll be paid. But that also doesnt mean we shouldnt extend Cabrera. We should just not extend him as long as Pujols' contract is for, in terms of their respective ages. Cabrera is only 30 now, and he's having the best season of his career by far, we can't afford to let him walk after 2015 assuming he doesnt slow down as much these next 2 years. If we extend him 5 years till 2020 to match Fielder and Verlander's contracts (incl. the option on the latter), he'll be 37. Thats as far in advance as I'd go. Then in the 2020 offseason we can see which, if any, of those 3 will be worth resigning again.
