There is nothing wrong with "socialism" and much of the Western world incorporates significant aspects of it into its governance.

To say that the government should provide for the people versus the magical "private sector" should (or would) is one argument.

To dismiss anything related to "socialism" on face is juvenile and ignorant. The sarcastic quip about being provided a house, a job and a "nice meal" is rather funny when you think about it.

Private sector banks giving anybody and everybody with a pulse any amount of free money in order to have a house based on rampant "deregulation," only to then profit from the inevitable inability to repay the free money, privatizing the gains and then socializing the losses....?

Sounds a lot like what these occupyers are pissed off about in the first place.

Finding some platitude for the "USA Socialist" party and applying it to a survey question is off-base anyways. College grads, lost job, mixed political affiliation (if any), generally young, frustrated .... Actually sounds quite a bit different than the Tea Party, when you really look at that 198 person census anyways.

How is it off based? It proves a majority of the OWS has socialistic views.

the occupy wall street is nothing more than Obama and the unions creating chaos, that's what a community organizer is good at. Wait for the riots to increase to try and advance the socialist agenda, wealth redistribution, I cant believe people dont see this for what is really is.

The only aspect of the entire census you're taking issue with is the "at any cost" inclusion in the one question.

If a census taker asked, "Do you believe in Freedom of Speech" and the majority answered positively, does that make the majority of the OWS folks "Constitutionalists?"

Because to me, the notion of having an educated, safe & healthy population is hardly the foundation of socialism, but it very much is -- in the Judeo-Christian basis of the country -- a question of ethics, charity and altruism. I'd also suspect that the majority of the protestors in NYC, being under 35yrs old and college educated, understand the benefit of having all these things considered for a properly functioning "free market" and "free society."

I have seen enough of the protests to know what they are about. The evidence is there. Go on youtube and look for OWS protesters praising socialism and communism. Then search for ones in support of capitalism and tell me what you find.

Having a college education, health, etc is socialist when the government pays for the bill. You can spin it any way you want, but that doesn't change the fact.

it is truly sad that Ron Paul, being as consistent as he is, has a supporter slandering his name in you.

How am I inconsistent? How am I slandering his name?

As I've stated before, I am opening to listening. I appreciate your one line comment, but please explain.

Ron Paul, while I do not agree with all his views, is consistent and factual for the most part. You, on the other hand, deny statistics and facts and insert your fallacious view of the world.

LMAO, you Libtards only hear/listen to what you want to hear/listen.

If you don't watch any video, PLEASE watch this one. I beg you, all of you.

This is what we need while he DOESN'T denounce capitalism.

Why praise capitalism? Give me an example of a free market that is capitalist and supports a middle class.

First you say OWS doesn't support socialism.

Then you ask me why we should support capitalism (probably because you couldn't back your previous statement that OWS isn't about socialism)

Contradiction.

Government regulation doesn't support capitalism. A free market isn't a perfect system BUT it is the best.

How is Greece feeling?

Capitalism and socialism are not mutually exclusive. There is a great deal of grey in between.

But, could you point out where I said anything about capitalism and socialism?

Second, again I ask give me an example of where a free market supports a middle class. It wasn't until we started our social programs that we developed a strong middle class.

How is Germany feeling? How is Norway feeling? How is Finland feeling?

Now lets look at the European country that is following conservative ideals.

How is England feeling?

You don't get it. Capitalism is what drives innovation, technology, pharmaceuticals, and new inventions. That is why the U.S. is the most successful country in the world! Without capitalism there would be much less incentive to invest large sums of capital into R/D.

Now lets discuss your examples of Finland and Norway. These two countries have the combined population of of NYC alone. I'm a heavy activist for state rights, giving power back to the people. The United States has over 300 million people. Do you really want the Federal government to have that much control? The USPS is in debt, AMTRAK loses money, private schools outperform public schools, look at Fannie and Freddie. I can go about private sector trumps government. It all goes back to incentive.

England is in the same boat as we because they are fiscally irresponsible. I don't know why you labeled them "conservative". Conservative is a term for government while capitalism is term for economic structure.

All you liberals wouldn't have you precious iPhone with capitalism.

The issue you have with Ron Paul is the (R) next to his name. If he had (D) and had the same view points you would have zero problem with him.

Bill Maher and many more liberals support Ron Paul. He is a man of the people.

yes, capitalism brings us great things... things like the Great Depression, poverty, inequality, uncompetitive markets through mergers and consolidations, oppression, collusion, price fixing through monopoly or oligopoly market power, etc. etc. etc.

it is only with GOVERNMENT REGULATION AND ENFORCEMENT that markets remain competitive and free of corruption.

but have it your way. that's pretty much the way things are going, because of idiots that actually believe this "free market" shit.

you are uneducated, and unfamiliar with the history of economics and labor in the United States, from 1865 to the present.

Same with the spartan here.
