He and Jackson are the only two players that got on base twice last night (both having a hit and a walk). He put those two players right in front of Miggy and Prince. He was right.

one down

Dumb **** decision. Regardless of him getting on base. Its called pure luck.

I didn't say I liked it.....I said he was right.

it's right for someone to hit 2nd in the lineup with a .167 batting average after not getting much playing time lately, who just got off the disable list? there is no way, no how Raburn should even be in a Tiger uniform, yet alone he can't hit for beans, he can't field either... I'm suspecting Leyland was drunk making out that lineup.

Ideally you never want someone that is hitting .167 in the 2 hole. When I saw it I didn't like it either.....I hate Raburn! All I said is Leyland was right....he had the two guys that got on base twice right in front of Miggy. Based on his numbers it was wrong batting him 2nd but his hunch was right. Anyway....with this shitty roster it really doesn't matter.....only 3 players on this team can hit!

You guys are morons...would I put a .167 hitter there? Nope, wouldn't have the guts and would think it's stupid. The guy makes a decision NONE of us thought wsa the right one, turns out we're wrong and he played the right guy and you grill him for it... What the **** does it matter what he's hitting on the season as long as he gets on when he's put in? I don't care if Leyland hits a guy in the 2 spot that batting .007 as long as he gets on base that game.

Guess if Don Kelly hits the 2 spot in game 7 of the world series and goes 1-4 with the World Series winning homer it will be a terrible decision and Tigers fans will be floored. Get on him when the guy doesn't perform, not after he does.

it's the law of averages, and shinebox doesn't have a very good one.

It didn't make sense at first to start him as well as bat him 2nd, but as beez says he did get on base....the problem with that is after Cabrera doubled, imo, Raburn should have scored, as was said in the game thread, but with the sore quad he couldn't, and of course his indefensible defense.

Seriously too much crying about something that had no effect on anything.

Offense sucked, and not because Raburn batted 2nd, and Porcello fell apart, and not because Raburn made an error.

yeah, lets just forget that he dropped a fly ball, and it didn't mean anything, and yes he's hitting .167 going in, but we lost anyway. no worries Leylands got it all figured out.

Pure luck. You play a guy who shouldn't play in a spot he shouldn't be in once in a while good things will happen. Leyland didn't do anything right. He got lucky.

I wonder how often fans get thrown out of the seats that are next to the dugout for yelling at Leyland.

Perhaps

But if he played Dirks yesterday in the 2nd spot, and Dirks ended up going 0-4...I doubt there would be this big of an uproar.

He had the same amount of hits and errors as Cabrera. But was on base twice as much. Where's the outrage at Leyland for hitting Miggy 3rd?

Bitching just for the sake of bitching.

Yes there would. The JL haters would complain that he put a lefty in the 2 hole when he had some right handed hitters on the bench.

this. no way should raburn have hit 2nd, but it had no real outcome on the game. the entire offense was putrid and his error didnt end up costing us. the only thing it did was hopefully show leyland that he shouldnt ****ing do it again.

come on, comparing a chopped liver backup to a $300. AngusPrimeFiletMignonSteak that bats 3rd or can bat 4th.

Yeah Ron, it's just as ridiculous as complaining as much as everyone has about who batted second in 1 freaking game. And for all that bitching, it still ended up being tied for the highest OBP for the game.

With all the problems this team has, who bats second, and with what average means next to nothing.

Yet someone had to make a new thread about it a day after it actually happened.
