A-Rod gets 162

I think he has a good case in federal court. He never was caught and yet gets the largest suspension in history.

As much as we all think arod is a dink I don't get why they can give him such a large suspension.
 
I dunno about his chances in court. As far as I know, historically, its always been difficult to overturn the ruling of a collectively bargained arbitration.



Im honestly not sure if I care one way or the other. On the one hand, I think Selig is out of fucking control and that this farce has done more to harm baseball than all the players doing roids did (which he turned a blind eye to at first to make baseball more popular, making him the biggest fucking hypocrite in this whole mess). On the other hand, I despise A-Roid with the fire of a thousand suns and he has also been willingly participating (and upping the ante) in this farce.



Fuck 'em both, I say. I've wanted both Selig AND A-roid gone for years.

I don't care about A-Rod, but this stinks of nepotism. If he played for the Royals or the Diamondbacks, would it have gotten the full court press that Hank Steinbrenner wanted?

They need to have 1 set of rules, for everyone.

Olbermann was on twitter today and he said collectively bargained penalties are almost never overturned.
 
And I certainly don't want the NYY to get out of his contract for Year.
 
He already knows he won't and can't win an case in federal court. The courts won't overturn something that was agreed upon by both parties in collective bargaining. It sets an ugly precedence for both labor and management.

However, what he can do is fight for an injunction to stay this ruling until a future court date. Yankees report to spring training in 5 weeks. His case won't be heard for six months or more in the courts.

He's only 6 home runs shy of his bonus of $6M. If he gets an injunction, it gives him time to hit that bonus. That's all he's concerned with at this point, staying off the inevitable.
 
thats if a judge even issues an injunction, if they have no interest in hearing the case, they might not.
 
I heard some legal experts say today that Aroid has no chance in Federal Court. And he needs to be careful as in very careful because as of right now everything from his arbitration case is sealed. If he sues that means everything will be unsealed and become a part of legal record and that means everyone will know everything he did to try and cheat the game and he said there was some very explosive stuff in there that Aroid will not want known to the public.
 
As much as I think A-rod is a dumb ass I think he got screwed over. The CBA clearly says 50 game for the first offense and 100 for the second. How do they come up with 162? He was not suspended for conduct detrimental to the game....he was suspended for PED use. I hate the Yankees enough that I was hoping for just a 50 game suspension so they would be on the hook for his salary this year and the following 3
 
we should soon see everything. i saw in one of the articles that the arbitrator's decision report would be make public if arod takes this to court, and apparently its absolutely scathing.

I have a feeling they have some monsterous on A-Rod. It sounds like they have him trying to interfere with an investigation, obstruction, etc.

Baseball did the same thing.

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Major League Baseball officials impeded a Florida Department of Health investigation of Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch by purchasing clinic documents they likely knew had been stolen and had been warned not to obtain, sources close to the investigation told "Outside the Lines."

The Department of Health closed its case on Bosch, who is not licensed to practice medicine, in April with a $5,000 fine and cease-and-desist letter. On July 31, Bosch signed an agreement with health officials reducing the penalty to $3,000.

A state official said the limited scope of the investigation and its conclusion were direct results of MLB officials purchasing documents related to the since shuttered clinic at the center of a performance-enhancing drug scandal involving Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and at least a dozen other players.

The source said MLB knew the documents had been intended for Florida investigators and that the purchase of them hindered the state investigation by preventing the department from gathering additional evidence against Bosch, doctors and others affiliated with the clinic. Further, MLB officials never told health department officials they had obtained the records, the source said.

"They can't say they weren't warned," the official said.

The allegation that MLB affected an official investigation is just the latest in a high-stakes drama that has come down to a battle between Rodriguez, the game's highest-paid player, and baseball leadership.
 
Like others have said, the baseball guys were saying his case won't make it to federal court. MLB and the players union have a contract on how they settle disputes and it's one that benefits the players. Federal court will not want to interfere with that. An arbitrator is hired to settle disputes and AROD walked out on it.

This has "when keeping it real goes wrong" all over it for AROD. It's going to bite him. I hope he goes for it and everything comes to the light of day. Give him what he wants. We've seen this play out a ton of times in sports...and every time the guy is guilty of being a user no matter how many times he claims he's clean.

Anthony Bosch, the founder and former proprietor of the infamous anti-aging clinic Biogenesis, says Alex Rodriguez was meticulous in his quest to exploit the benefits of performance-enhancing substances for an edge -- and ultimately in seeking to become the sole member of the 800 home run club.

Speaking in an interview with the CBS News program "60 Minutes" to air Sunday night, Bosch said he personally injected Rodriguez with PEDs because the New York Yankees third baseman, whose suspension was reduced Saturday from 211 games to 162, was "scared of needles."

"So at times, he would ask me to inject," Bosch said in the interview, according to a publicity release.

A partial transcript of the interview and text messages that "describe a secretive Rodriguez and an accommodating Bosch" have also been published by the New York Daily News.

"Try to use service elevators. Careful. Tons of eyes," Rodriguez told Bosch in a text message in June 2012 in Atlanta, the day before he hit his 23rd career grand slam to tie Lou Gehrig's record.

The "60 Minutes" segment also revealed Rodriguez spent $12,000 a month in doing business with Bosch, according to the newspaper.

"Alex cared. Alex wanted to know," Bosch said, according to the Daily News. "He would study the product. He would study the substances. He would study the dosages, because he wanted to achieve all his human performance or in this case, sports performance, objectives. And the most important one was the 800 home run club."

Rodriguez also texted Bosch during a spring training game in April 2012 in which he had three RBIs.

"Really good. Explosive," Rodriguez messaged to Bosch, according to the Daily News.

"Go with same protocol," Bosch replied.

Rodriguez, after the reduced suspension was announced Saturday, reiterated his claim that he has not taken any PEDs in his time with the Yankees.

The three-time American League MVP was the biggest name linked last year to Biogenesis.

Bosch said he thought the suspension was deserved, according to a spokeswoman.

"Tony Bosch doesn't take joy in seeing Alex Rodriguez suspended from baseball, but he believes the arbitrator's decision was appropriate," Joyce Fitzpatrick said in a statement Saturday. "He is glad to have the arbitration behind him and believes he can play a valuable role in the future by educating athletes about the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs."

The Major League Baseball Players Association is writing the latest chapter in the drama that is this entire Alex Rodriguez situation. After Rodriguez was given a 162-game suspension by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, MLB executive Rob Manfred and Tony Bosch of Biogenesis will appear on 60 Minutes tonight to expound on the ordeal.

Tony Bosch not only thru Aroid under the bus, but he was driving it.seemed to me as he had a chip on his shoulder about him.
