About that Trump $1M/Warren DNA story going around

It's all irrelevant anyways, Trump has denied ever saying it. ?I didn?t say that. You better read it again.? Trump said to a reporter this morning. So no worries, it was just liberal, deep state video alterations and CGI.

yeah, that's the point Gulo was making in the OP. I'm just saying both sides are relying equally on technicalities. I have no doubt though that the media will get a good week out of talking about how Trump lied again and they'll probably get some more mileage out of it as the midterms heat up.

Your math is on Alex Jones level shittiness but I get your point.

my math was intentionally exaggerated for effect, it had nothing to do with Alex Jones.

I'll be curious to see if Trump still calls her Pocahontas or not. I'm betting he won't.

Looks like the Cherokee Nation would just assume she STFU

So why people feel the need to bring it up in the first place?, seriously WTF am I supposed to do about that hundreds of years later that I nor any of thy memorable past generational ancestors had anything to do with.

Be aware of it. Teach the history. Learn from it. Don't make shitty insensitive comments about it.

American social studies for the most part brushes the vast majority of it under the rug in favor of a syllabus that glorifies 'Amercian wins'. I could see having your super defensive stance in the topic if people were educated properly, but they're not.

I've always thought the President should stop calling her Pocahontas and now that the results are in, I feel even more strongly that he should instead call her Fauxcahontas.

How I think the two sides look right now:

oh everybody is only reminded of it multiple times per year, I mean Columbus day isn't allowed anymore right. How can anyone not be aware of it? And what should be done about all that hundreds of years later that hasn't already been done? What do you propose? I don't recall social studies when I was in school ever glorifying America wins it just presented the facts without personal opinions and politics pushed on us. unlike today's educational system.

While we're at it heck lets tare down all the historical landmarks and forget all that history too and re-write it all to your own narrative.. On the road to socialist equally assured misery for all serfdom we is

yep, and they're both right. However, in my humble opinion, she and her side look like the bigger idiots. If her PR people green-lit the release of this report, they should be fired. She should have just sat on this, like Trump sits on his tax returns.

As you said, no Trump voter is going to be swayed by this but if it actually has any effect, I have to think independent fence sitters would most likely come down on the other side based on this.

Be aware of it. AWARE

Teach the history. Where is it NOT being taught today?

Learn from it. Should we learn from it by taring down historical landmarks, will that help us forget the past so we can repeat it?

Don't make shitty insensitive comments about it. How is asking WTF you expect me to do about that hundreds of years later and pointing out that nobody alive today was around when that occurred insensitive. It's a factual statement.

Obviously not all schools have the same curriculum but I couldn't disagree more and have a hard time believing your school was completely different than mine.

  • McCarthyism
  • Trail of Tears
  • Labor Rights movement (extremely bloody and violent, often glossed over.
Hell, it took a fucking riot (Haymarket Riot) just to get an 8 hour work day)
  • Battle of Athens
  • Japanese-Amercian internment camps in the 40s
  • Tulsa Race Riot

I could go on pretty easily but you get the point. Instead of teaching about these things and why they were wrong, you'll learn about all of the sunshine and rainbows that America provides. I believe that America has done a lot of good, more than bad even, but ignoring all of the dark times and mistakes is what helps create the super patriotic, "God Bless America", ultra nationalistic 'us vs them' mentality that a good portion of Americans have.

You're turning it into a partisan argument when it's anything but. You said you learned 'facts' and not politically biased stuff in school. I mentioned nothing but facts. Why not learn from your mistakes as a country? Truth hurts?

Maybe I'm just sick and tired of hearing about how bad America is all the time, you got a better system or country in mind?

Colombus Day is still a thing, not sure where you've been. But for the umpteenth time, TEACH it. I wish I had my kid's Colombus Day project from last year handy. It was a fucking joke. And I live in a pretty liberal area. And if you don't think it's appropriate for kids to hear the gritty details until a certain age, leave it alone until they can. Don't spend the day singing songs and glorifying a warmonger, rapist, and slave driver with 5 year olds.

Swaddle yourself in an American flag, crack open a Coors light, and go sing the Pledge of Allegiance on your back porch for your neighbors to hear. I bet you'll be feeling better in no time.

it's called indigenous peoples day now and Columbus OH is going to have to change the name of their city sooner or later. oh, believe me, it'll happen.

wow, that's a lot of pent-up hate you got going on there. Why do you despise the country that affords us so much opportunity so much?

And no those things won't make me feel better, I'll feel better if mad max and loony gran nan don't take back the house in these midterms.

I love my country. I don't love fake, superficial patriotism.
