Alex Smith Traded

I think they will. Arizona would snap him up in a second.

Oh crap, Alex Smith and The Lorax in KC at once.....?!

You haven't met the new Buick,

Love Peyton

Traded to KC for a 2nd and a conditional in 2014. Probably good news for us.

Jay Glazer just broke it on the Jay Moher show yet ESPN cites "source" rather than just admit Glazer smokes all the hacks in Bristol.

The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs, league sources confirmed to ESPN.

Kansas City will trade its second-round pick in the 2013 draft -- the second selection (No. 34 overall) in the round -- as well as another conditional mid-round pick in 2014 to acquire Smith from San Francisco, a league source told ESPN.

The 49ers now own 15 picks in the 2013 draft.

As a result of the trade, the Chiefs are expected to release former starting quarterback Matt Cassel, league sources told ESPN. Cassel has two years remaining on a $63 million, six-year deal he signed with Kansas City after he was acquired in a trade from the Patriots in 2009. He failed to live up to the lofty contract, however, and was benched during the 2012 season.

And with the trade they move $10 mil under the cap. This is how a franchise is run.

I hope so, someone will then slip to us or if he's available at 5 we can get a trade done.

Do you really think that a team would take Geno Smith in the top 10? From what I have read he doesn't even grade out as a first round QB.

Someone took Ponder, Gabbert, Locker, and Tannehill in the top ten. You think they graded out better?

Do I think he's a top 10 QB, no. But do I see a team taking him high in the draft, no doubt about it. ITS a QB and way ahead of the rest.

Right now he is ranked as the 27th best prospect in the draft (by ESPN). I guess a team might draft him in the top 10 if they are desperate for a QB. I don't see a team trading into the top 5 though. I hope some team is that dumb!

i've seen in years past where QBs were ranked low at this point and then suddenly as the draft approaches the QBs skyrocket up the charts, in no small part because GMs don't like the idea of giving top 10 money to certain positions despite the player technically being of better value at a lower valued position. might not happen this year tho.

And the fact its already been point out the shit QB that were taken top 10 in the past. The rookie pay scale might change that but it still wouldn't surprise. No way Ponder was a top 30 player, yet got drafted early.
