An argument for trading Suh

If they trade Suh they are still on the hook for 14 million next year in dead cap space. A long term deal is needed for Suh with a low base salary just like with Calvin. Calvin isn't bad cap wise until year 4 of his deal. Suck it up one year(year 4) and then restructure year 5. Eternity in football time.

Im all for it, for the right return.

And in my opinion that is a 1st, 3rd and 5th would do it. That said, I don't think there is a franchise out there that would do that based on his history.

I don't know. Is Suh a dirty player?? To me, no.....but he's knocking on that door. His numbers are down but if you watch him he is CONSTANTLY double teamed. It's amazing that he gets to the QB as much as he does sometimes. I keep him.

This team has other holes to fill, talent wise, to take the next step.

Trade stafford and suh for luck. Wed have like a billion dollars to finally fill our holes.

No way a team trades for him when they can find decent players for far less in draft and fa these days.

Lions, as always, are screwed. Nillen will continue to haunt this team until the big 3 produce more, which may never happen unless they realize they need to take a pay cut to put together a solid TEAM.

Imagine how good the lions would (today if the rookie cap had been put in place when they got Stafford. Probably would not have been able to draft suh as they would have had money to toss around in FA, but I bet they'd be a helluva lot closer to being a super bowl contender. Of course they likely would have used all their money on one guy, so maybe not.

Not with all the restructure and dead cap space. Suh 14 million in dead cap space and Stafford 18 million with a trade next year. Might as well keep them on the roster for 20 million in cap space and 18 million and actually have them play.

Suh should get a long term deal with a low base for three years but escalating base and some signing bonus but also roster bonus and maybe an option bonus in the deal.

Lions will have about 25 million to spend(cutting KVB, Raiola, Burleson), letting Corey Williams walk even with Stafford and Suh's bigmoney but they will need to use that on the draft AND Avril, Houston, Delmas, Sammie Lee Hill. Plus eithe Levy or Durant, \

May lose Gosder to free agency. Or cut Backus save 4.5 million and use that to sign Gosder and roll with Reiff at LT.

Jason Hanson among others (Spievey, Willie Young, Lo Jack, Hilliard, Jason Fox, Palmer, vet CB as they lose Lacey and Florence, Heller, Muhlbach, Coleman)

It sounds like the Lions are screwed. I think we had some debates about this last year....I remember saying that they couldn't keep all three and one needed to go. Since they already signed CJ and you pretty much have to keep a good WB once you get them I think they should trade Suh. The smarter play would probably have been trading CJ last year because they would have gotten more in return.

A new contract for Suh helps alot. Trading him 14 million still on the Lions books. Stafford a new contract 2014 most likely. Old CBA sucks but the Lions can work on it just like they did with Calvin. Calvin's contract isn't bad until the 4th season.

Teams restructure to get under cap. Nothing more to it than that. Lions don't need to trade anyone.

Yeah, seriously we aren't in that bad of shape. We just havent extended our high priced guys besides CJ.

Add into that we had to overpay to get some guys to come here. KVB, Burleson, etc come to mind. Also Backus and Williams still make good money. We could lose all 4 and have 20+ million to spend.

Yeah burleson has already hinted that he may be on the way out. If Broyles continues to emerge The decision will be easy. Along those same lines Fairley has started to show up as well and will make Williams expendables.

Now that any hopes of making the playoffs are virtually a wrap, and I can think in my right mind without getting emotionally attached to every single game and play; no way I would trade suh. He's one hell of a controversy magnet, but if you read between the lines, everyone would rather play with him. Shit, I would if I were out there. It's the only guarantee that he won't fuck you up (is if he's your teammate)
