Probably at 27 he was never going to get a shot in Detroit but he was fourth on the team in playoff points but he did lead the team in the regular season with 62 points at the center position with 18 goals and 44 assist. It's so werid under Holland how kids never seem to get much of a shot under him. I guess 5'8 175 centers are a dime a dozen. He so wanted to play for Detroit.

I don't think Detroit had any intent in calling up Miele, it was more of a move to bolster the Griffins. There are tons of players who year after year are among the top scorers in AHL and don't get much of a shot at NHL.

Example, Alex Giroux who had a 60 goal season in the AHL. He played a total of 48 games in the NHL but was a complete beast in the AHL.

Keith Aucoin played just 145 games in the NHL scoring 49 points. Those are decent numbers, but when you consider he averaged under 11:30 a game those numbers are superb! Compare that to his 857 points in 769 career AHL games.

Why Aucoin couldn't stick in the NHL I don't know.

There are literally dozens of guys like these two examples. Completely dominant at the AHL level, given little time in the NHL. Wether their limited time in NHL is warranted or not, unfortunately the number of spots in the NHL are limited.
