"The Detroit Tigers are under fire for seemingly innocent Facebook photos in which stars like Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander posed with their team's namesake."

"The International Fund for Animal Welfare issued a statement Monday decrying the team for posing with tiger cubs from the Dade City Wild Things Zoo."

~snip~

"The IFAW attempts to shame the Tigers for ignoring the possible "fairly significant public safety and animal welfare issues."

"Handling a wild big cat is not a game and treating them like a ?pet? poses extreme risks," the statement reads.

~snip~

"A Detroit Tigers representative said the tiger cubs' appearance was part of a fundraiser at Joker Marchant Stadium, the Tigers' springtime home, for the cubs, whose home was destroyed by a tornado that hit the Dade City Zoo March 24."

So the Tigers' ballclub was actually involved in a fundrauser to help the tigers cubs, yet quite conveniently, apparently no mention of that was made by the animal rights group.

Public safety hazard!!!!

If those baby tigers got loose they would obviously kill and or maim millions, and because it's Florida obviously nobody has a gun who could put the rampaging beasts down.

Verlander and Cabrera are all smiles, but they don't know how close they were to a slow and painful death at the hands of nearly infant tiger cubs.

If only Brandon Inge were there to protect them.
