Another bad trade: Bunning to Phils

Just f'n great.......Another reminder of one of the two trades of my youth that pissed me off. Tigers trading Bunning and the Kuenn for Colavito trade before iirc the 1960? season, which really was good in the long term of 3/4 years, until Colavito started bad mouthing Kaline and the Tigers, in terms of calling 'The 6' a little tin god, and crummy remarks directed at Jim Campbell and John Fetzer.
As for Bunning, even as a young teen I was shocked. I mean Bunning was the one of the 3 best pitchers in the AL and on the Tigers with due respect to Frank Lary. To trade him for a Right Fielder, when the Tigers already had the pre-eminent RF in AL history was, as I said back then 'fuckdiculous'.
As I have looked into this trade, as years later stories and information has come out while I travel the internet for Tigers news, it seems that Bunning was a bit of a kia, know it all, and was also involved in players' rights...bargaining. So maybe he was the one in the clubhouse that wanted a higher salary for himself and the other players. remember, this was before free agency.
For those of us that remember the 1960's Tigers, imagine Bunning along with McLain and Lolich et al? 1967 might have meant winning the pennant instead of missing by 1 game.
By the way, this examiner link now has an advertisement with sound that plays and I am unable to mute or stop. These horses asses like the freep and detnews with that mlb box at the right of their Tigers pages. rant over.

Tell us how you feel? lol

Had I been around, this trade would have really pissed me off.

In fact, it does piss me off and I was not around!

Ty, lol....yes I am sure another fan of Tigers past and present like you would have been as BS as me.
After coming back to this thread after my posting rant, I realized I didn't say thanks for the examiner story, so belatedly, even for one that caused me to be vexed and miffed near 50 years later.
