AOC to Primary Schumer?

As I get older, I get more and more pessimistic for humanity's prospects.

But at least by limiting the number of people sucking the resources of the planet, we can improve our survival prospects a bit.

The vast majority of people are just not that bright, and susceptible to all sorts of mass delusions and flawed behaviors (see, e.g. the persistence of the anti-vaxx movement).

Just give them all free birth control, and cheap, harmless drugs (weed), and provide simple jobs for them (ditch diggers, clerks, burger flippers, etc.) with decent wages, subsidized if need be. Let them work 8 hours a day, get high, and screw. Harmless fun.

Trust me. it'll be A LOT better for the rest of us this way.

Except for the free birth control, I think we pretty much already there.

What does ?living wage? mean.

Everything is relative.

it doesn't mean anything; forget it. It's a dumb idea anyway, that all citizens should be equal. We should just go back to a feudal society, with rights and privileged determined by caste system.

we are all equal, but we don't as a nation guarantee equality of outcome nor should we - it's a stupid idea and you only need to take a brief look at the history of the 20th century to see that.

I don?t want that.

I just asked what a term you used actually meant.

Also the caste system and the feudal system mean very different things.

As I get older, I become more aware of my obligation to improve them.

Prevent life to preserve life. An interesting ethical question, with one answer: No.

I gather you place yourself in a different subset, because all of your premises are correct, because you think so.

Stunning that you matriculated from my alma mater and are a champion of mediocrity for the masses to make your own brief existence on Earth more palatable. Disappointing.

More palatable for everyone.

The alternative is war, pestilence, and mass starvation... everyone suffers and dies (except the billionaire$)

That sounds like the Soviet Union of the 1930s, where it did exactly what you propose to execute as a solution to the world's ills.

"sounds like?"

I guess if you add in Joseph Stalin, and also turn the 21st century American economy back to the largely rural & agricultural (and completely devastated from war and neglect) economy of 1930's Soviet Union, yeah.

The 1930s were the years of collectivization and industrization in the USSR.

I know. I've read about it, and have seen the monuments to the Holodomor in person.

But I'm not advocating collectivization & we're already an industrialized nation.

This is the most contentious point: People aren't "given" jobs.

Well, I just saw that as figurative language-obviously, they got to show up at the Comrade ministry of jobs to be given a job.

You would think the conversation would go something like this:

?Comrade minister, I would like job as center on first line for army hockey team.?

?Unfortunately, comrade, that job is not available, but we have job as ditch digger, clerk, or burger flipper for you.?

The rate at which our Universities are cranking out leftists that share Champ's outlook is just ridiculous. Your alma mater is no exception, Byco. In fact, it's among the leaders and best.

Well, somehow I managed to get through it without being so influenced. But that was 40 years ago. And I thought it was the southpaws who had hope for mankind if only the righties wouldn't ruthlessly exploit their "lessers" or box them into some prescribed status so as not to "mix" with their betters.

Aren't youths (or yutes as my buddy Vinnie like to say) historically more prone to be liberal? Have colleges always been to blame for this?

I don't remember any agendas being pushed my way but I also didn't take very many social science courses, which is where I'd suspect that kind of thing would happen.

Well, you did attend Michigan during the Golden Era of Rick Leach as the QB, so belief in the potential greatness of lefties is understandable.
