AP Indicted for Child Abuse

I heard it on my local news channel then just post the first link that popped up...

I hear it is a 4yr old and sometimes 11yr old.

Wish I knew which. It is a lot worse obviously if you are beating a 4yr old.

However, I grew up being whipped with sticks or my dad's belt. Though I was never that young, I think the earliest was when I was 10 or older. Hitting a 4yr old, is inexcusable, they don't know what they are doing.

Also, the fact that AP caused lacerations is a red flag. That means he was applying some serious effort into the hits. Add into that, the kid had these lacerations on his arms, back, butt and scrotum. Huge red flag, my parents always hit me on my backside not uncontrollably beating any body part that shows itself.

Being hit sucked.

That's what my parents knew about discipline, from the way they were reared by their parents.

Leave it to TMZ to obtain photos of some of the wounds. That is NOT just a spanking old school style with a switch. That kid has a shitload of marks and cuts, and those are just his legs.

Imagine what his butt and back look like.

If Rice gets banned indefinitely for hitting a woman in the face, Peterson should be banned for life for what he did to a defenseless child.

Knowing the law, he will get some restitution, anger management, and won't do prison, but he should never be seen in the NFL again.

On the bright side, a sexual assault charge against Aaron Rogers, and a domestic violence charge against Jay Cutler could really, really make the prospect of the Lions season a whole lot more optimistic...

Have you seen Jay's wife? I find it infinitely more likely that Kristin Cavallari is arrested for DV for whooping his ass.

Let's face it, almost any wife is more manly than Cutler.

If she breaks his passing arm, just as good...

Maybe I'm an asshole for thinking it... or maybe I'm an asshole for saying it...

But this really makes me wonder about his son that died from an abusive beating two years ago. The guy in jail awaiting trial has said he didn't beat the kid, Peterson did.

Now, I have to pause and question.

I wonder if Goodell contacted Adrian to go beat up his kid in order to get the story off him. anyone? bueller?

This story is troubling in so many ways. First he had a child that died of a beating by the mothers boyfriend. Then if you read the statements AP hasd made its scary. He admits that he beat the child with a switch and then says he doesnt think it was excessive at all. So that leads me to wonder what it would take for it to be excessive. Then his lawyer releases a statement that basically says this is how AP was raised so it should be OK for him to then do it to his kids. The 4 year old also made statements saying daddy likes to use belts or switches and that he has a whipping room. What the hell is wrong with this guy? I used to respect AP but I dont now. I dont think he should ever play again.

Read the article from the lead writer in Houston who has copies of AP's police interview and the interview of the child really spells out how violent it was......The “whooping” – as Peterson put it when interviewed by police – occurred in Spring, Texas, in May. Peterson’s son had pushed another one of Peterson’s children off of a motorbike video game. As punishment, Peterson grabbed a tree branch – which he consistently referred to as a “switch” – removed the leaves and struck the child repeatedly.
The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”
Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!”
...
According to police reports, the child, however, had a slightly different story, telling authorities that “Daddy Peterson hit me on my face.” The child also expressed worry that Peterson would punch him in the face if the child reported the incident to authorities. He also said that he had been hit by a belt and that “there are a lot of belts in Daddy’s closet.” He added that Peterson put leaves in his mouth when he was being hit with the switch while his pants were down. The child told his mother that Peterson “likes belts and switches” and “has a whooping room.”

Peterson estimated he “swatted” his son “10 to 15” times, but he’s not sure because he doesn’t “ever count how many pops I give my kids.

Honestly, if this all is true.

He needs to be in Prison. Let the inmates treat him well

Well from everything I have read he admits everything. But to him because his dad beat him then that means its ok that he does the same.

I was just on a Vikings message board and I guess he has as many as 7 kids besides the ones with his wife.

I don't think his attorney is trying to say it should be okay, so much as trying to set up a sympathy plea deal.

They will argue that due to his upbringing, he doesn't know any better as a parent. He will try to argue that Adrian should get some parenting classes, and some therapy, in lieu of prison time.

It's the same type of thing they use in drug charges by arguing the parent were addicts, so they person grew up with drugs, and don't see it as wrong.

My guess is, due to his celebrity status, he doesn't do jail at all. However, look at those marks. The kid his cut all over. This is not "old school" discipline.

All of our dads spanked us with a belt or a switch as kids. My dad never stripped my pants off my and hit me repeatedly. I was never left marked up like this, and remember, these are just the boys legs we're seeing. Reports are his ankles, buttocks, back, and even scrotum looks pretty much the same.

Adrian told police he hit the kid at least 10 times with a switch. I think we can all see about 10 marks just on his legs alone. It's a four year old little boy who was just viciously and brutally beaten by his father.

My heart is breaking for this little boy. Kids all over look up to Peterson, and his own boy will be terrified of him for life. This kid of thing will leave scars deeper than the marks on his skin could ever be.

It's horrific, and the NFL simply MUST take a stance here harder and faster than they did with Ray Rice, because it's so much worse.

I never heard that story before (that the guy said AP did it)....you have to wonder now

That was the Vick defense. That where Vick grew up dog fighting was the norm. It didn't help Vick then and certainly didn't fly in the court of public opinion. I can see the lawyer thinking along the lines you describe, but I hope like in Vick's it only sinks him further. Like you said Ink we all come from a generation of ass whippings but I don't get nostalgic seeing the pics of that kids legs, that looks like abuse to me. And I hope he does some Jail time again to reference the Vick case, society today wouldn't let you do that to a dog let alone a 4 year old.

those pictures were taken 5 - 7 days AFTER the "whooping" happened. That kid got fucked up. PLaying in the NFL should be a priviledge....Goodell better make a statement and do the right thing here.
