agreed, if he was type A i wouldn't sign him. He had the highest BA last year out of all 3B and brings power to that spot. Awesome lineup

1) CF Austin Jackson
2) SS Jhonny Peralta
3) RF Brennan Boesch
4) 1B Miguel Cabrera
5) DH Victor Martinez
6) 3B Aramis Ramirez
7) C Alex Avila
8) LF Delmon Young
9) 2B Raburn

I don't want mudhen either.
Thing is Ramirez's UZR has steadily gone down the past 3 years.

it's not that i want him but nobody else is signed and i'm not going to speculate on who is going to be traded because i have no clue. Ramirez may be old but we are the only team interested so far and could get him cheap.

Yeah tnat 'll hold up. Lets keep a .197 hitter all season in case he has a chance to get 7 hits and 1 RBI in the playoffs.

im iffy on aram. hed definitely be an upgrade over inge, but hes definitely below average defensively and already 33 so that will probably keep declining, and i feel like his offense will probably start to fall off as well. if we can get him for cheap and no more than 3 years, id be ok with it. by the time his contract would be up, castellanos would be ready (though i still think he might end up a corner OF).

Its all about improving the team. And regardless of being 33! Production down, bad defense -- he's better than Inge.

I hope he produces . But i worry about his age at 33... Now go get johnson for second base if he is still out there and dump Mudhen off on 1-75 going south...No way in hell do i let that hatch field in the infield.

but would it really be an upgrade given his defense, home/road splits with the cubs, and the money we'd have to pay him? inge is horrible, but aram would be getting north of $12 million/year and i dont think hes worth that for what he'd give us. if the money per year was 1/2 to 2/3 that, id be more amenable but he'd never sign for that little.

I'm not really looking at the money issue. But he is better. Inge D isn't like it was 2-3 years ago. Aram is an upgrade and I expect him to have a turn around year. Inge is Inge, we know what we're getting and it sucks. Inge doesn't understand baseball. It goes on record saying he's a home run hitter when he clearly isn't. He takes no ownership of his bad season until he was brought back in September. I'm sick of him.

I'm not a spreadsheet guru like Rebbiv, but if it was put in front of us, I would bet the Tigers 3rd base product was near the bottom last year, or for any number of past years. Which makes even the questions we have on Aramis' defense or his away splits, moot, when compared to Inge/Kelly/pickyourstiff. Even Aramis Ramirez's declining defense, age, away road splits, is an improvement.
I was on record before not really wanting him, but all factors considered, he is an upgrade over what we have had.

and our Tigers will still need a second baseman and another solid 7th inning reliever.

I'd rather Santiago play every day vs. Raburn.
