So they're not porn stars? A little disappointing I have to say..

It's Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon, from SNL; I would imagine 99% of the US population at least knows who Will Ferrell is. They do what I understand is a spoof coverage of the Rose Parade as Cord and Tish every year, as I understand it. I've never seen it. Maybe they cover other things, I guess they covered the Royal Wedding.

What I saw yesterday was coverage on a shot of the church. No cameras inside, just the outside. A significant improv challenge.

And it looked like the show was a couple hours, unless it was looped.

Will Ferrell was okay on SNL; his movies since he's left I find to be generally pretty stupid.

Molly Shannon was pretty unmemorable on SNL as far as I saw; nowhere near as good as some of the really great sketch actresses that have been on that show.

Her IMDb page shows she's done quite a bit since she left SNL but I can't remember seeing a single thing she's been in since then.

I like Step Brothers, Elf, and that one where he sits in his yard with his stuff.

I'm neutral on Molly Shannon. Not super memorable, but I also have nothing bad to say about her. She's a competent team player.

Yes, Elf is okay, it's one of his exceptions.

I found Molly's signature character, that Catholic school girl who kept putting her hands under armpits then sniffing to be irritating and annoying.

I guess a lot of people must have liked that character though, because she was on a lot.

So here we are, July 10 2020, flash forward about a year and a half.

The very recent events surrounding this, I guess, now not so royal couple, are being called “Megxit,” which I think is pretty funny.

Most takes seem to imply that the "royal lifestyle" thing is driving her nuts, but I read this take on it today, that it's on her:
A regular reader, who reads tabloids for mental health breaks and zeitgeist watch the way some of us turn to YouTube cat videos, predicted months ago that Meghan would divorce Harry in no more than five years. One of the elements of that forecast was that Meghan apparently hadn?t understood that Harry was not notably rich (among other things, not able to afford private jet travel) but was in fact on an allowance. The fact that Meghan seems keen to leverage the royal name for Clinton Foundation-level [grifting] income enhancement bears out that take.

in the original, "grifting" was sarcastically written in strikethrough.

England should just do away with the whole peerage/nobility/royalty thing already, FFS. It's the 21st century, and we - as in all of humanity - are (in theory) progressing away from monarchy still, right?

if they don't leave voluntarily, build the guillotines.

I would vote for
As a liberal hack Democrat, I am torn between my love of socialism, and my absolute love of royal, but more importantly my own, elitism.

I didn't see that as one of the choices, so take your poll and do what I am currently thinking about it.

I missed this the first time. what a whiner... sounds like something spartanmack would post.

that pic of the Prince who was buddies with Epstein in his car after they cut him off the royal allowance or whatever was pretty funny.

Surprised they did that.

Hey, maybe the royals are overstretched a bit? First they cut a prince off financially over something that sure looks bad (but I really doubt they cared about), and now Megan Golddigger Markle is looking to bolt?

Not enough $$$ to go around? Tough to be 21st century royalty in a country that's not swimming in oil.

sounds more like what you actually believe. I limit my posts here to making fun of the pudgy royal watcher OP for starting this stupid thread in the first place.

I don?t care.

I just saw the term ?Megxit? is funny.

I didn?t think that deserved its own thread so I rewound this one.

I do think a good gig going forward for Meghan would be to replace the Adam & Eve sex toy pitch lady on the cable TV commercials.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6JeDts_jt6Y&t=17s

I don?t get ?why this lady??

She?s not hideous or anything, but I see her more pitching self cleaning mops or something.

Maybe it?s because women are the primary purchaser of sex toys, and this lady isn?t threatening; but because Meghan is a Royal and therefore American women already love her, they probably won?t view her as a threat even though she?s hot.

I never continue watching whenever the ad comes on. Maybe if it was Meghan Markle trying to sell me sex toys I?d continue to watch.

granted we cut the cord a few years ago but i don't ever remember see any sex toy ads on cable when i had it. where do you see this stuff? mayne we just didnt subscribe the right channels...

Comedy Central for certain...maybe Paramount and FX too...I think it?s new. I only noticed them, I think, within the last year.

EDIT: According to this, they?ve been on for years.

I?ve recently started DVRing pretty much everything I watch on regular TV except live sports and news so I can speed through commercials. I alway record an additional minute or two at the beginning and the end to make I get the whole recording. Maybe the sex toy ads are at the end of some shows I?ve recorded and that?s why I?m aware of them. Pretty sure I haven?t watched TV in the middle of the night for years.

you're a good christian man. you don't watch the same channels he does

I try to be but that has a lot less to do with it than timing. I don't remember watching Paramount but I definitely watched Comedy Central and less but some FX.

It will probably make it's way to network TV at some point. No too long ago, my wife and I were watching regular TV at night and saw a Trojan ad. My wife apparently isn't a big Austin Powers fan because she totally missed the joke when I said "this must be the time most sailors watch TV."

If Meghan Markel takes over as the pitch person, I would say the odds of that happening go up exponentially.

Are we supposed to still refer to her as a duchess?

And does she still have anything to do with Sussex?

And does this make her the princess of Canada?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6yjpHCmB_L0

Does it change the exchange rate between the Canadian dollar and the euro?

This Megxit makes shit so confusing.

Makes me wonder why citizens of the United Kingdom didn?t get a chance to vote on it.
