GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith said Ndamukong Suh called him to apologize a few days after the Lions defensive lineman's infamous Thanksgiving Day stomp.

As far as Dietrich-Smith is concerned, that was the end of a widely publicized incident that got Suh suspended for two games -- and briefly made Dietrich-Smith famous for all the wrong reasons.

"He's cool, he apologized, and there's no hard feelings and that's pretty much it," Dietrich-Smith said.

With the Lions coming to Lambeau Field for Sunday's regular-season finale, Dietrich-Smith doesn't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen between him and Suh if they're on the field together.

"I think we've all moved past it," Dietrich-Smith said. "It's a big learning experience for everybody. I think everyone in the league can take note of everything that happened and I think every player is going to take a step forward to move past that kind of stuff."

Even in the heat of the moment, Dietrich-Smith said he wasn't tempted to snap back at Suh.

"Stuff happens," Dietrich-Smith said. "It's football. It's an emotional game. Sometimes you get carried away and you learn from those kinds of things, and that's about it."

Dietrich-Smith is a backup for the Packers and was playing on Thanksgiving after an injury to right guard Josh Sitton. He has started four straight games since then because of injuries, three at right guard and one at left guard.

Now Dietrich-Smith hopes he'll be better known for his play instead of as the guy who was stomped by Suh.

"It's always better when it's about football," Dietrich-Smith said. "That's how we're always looking forward. Our performances on the field are always going to speak more than the words we (say) in the locker room."

Lions coach Jim Schwartz said he doesn't expect any retribution toward Suh from the Packers.

"Ndamukong didn't plan on doing that," Schwartz said in a conference call with members of the media in Green Bay. "He lost his composure in the heat of the moment. I'd be very, very surprised if any team -- Green Bay Packers included -- was to plan something like that. It's a very physical game, it's tough, sometimes people make decisions on the field, but I'd be very surprised if anything like that's premeditated."

Big Question: If Ndamukong called a few days after it happened, why the heck did it take so long to report? I respect the fact that he (NS) didn't call the press and report it himself as that would have appeared to be self-serving. But man I wish Dietrich-Smith would have said something (not that he was obligated to do so) soon after the gesture. The negative court of popular opinion would have change immediately.

Doubt it. Guy stomps on another guy, fans of stompee are forgiving, all other fans are saying stompee is satan.

It would be nice if the media would let it rest. But they need something to keep going. At least the team is winning; makes the media bullshit more bearable.

The media gets bored really fast, so when he didn't do anything negative against the Raiders the story died.

According to what I read, later, his coach instructed him to get Suh flustered and distracted by untying his shoelaces, when Dietrich-Smith whined about Suh swatting him out of the way like a pesky gnat, so he did as he was told, plus he got Suh in a loose headlock when he tried to get up, after pushing him backwards while on his knees, mostly after the play was blown dead by the ref's whistle.

If Suh hadn't reacted to that, what would Dietrich-Smith have tried to do next time? Swing by Suh's facemask or chinstrap? Try to give him a snuggie while in the pile??

Childish shit, IMO. Suh should have known what he was trying to do, and either double-tied or taped over his shoelaces while on the sideline.

I stll question the shoelace untying only because neither Suh or Dietrich Smith ever mentioned it. And you think someone would have went back over the tape to find any of those instances during that game.

Only one penalty on Suh in his two games back. And it was an offsides. Hopefully he's turned over a new leaf.

thats one more than the number of plays hes made the last 2 games....dline has been non existant other than avril as of late.

When Tulloch , Levy and Durant are the top 3 of 4 guys on the Defensive stats sheet the last 2 weeks....the DLINE is doing IT'S JOB.

One could argue Janikowski's kick might have been good. Even deflected it nearly made the goal line. That's at least one play he's made.

He's a DT. He eats up numerous blockers and frees up his LB's to make plays. It's not all about the sacks.

you clearly dont know what youre talking about. KVB has been horrid. DTs havent done jack. Avril is the only one making plays. And dont give me the "Dts job is to eat blocks" bullcrap....we had 0 pressure on Phillip Rivers almost the entire game. ZEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOO. Phillip had one of the shittiest games i ever seen him play....and secondary stepped up and played huge. Mathews had only 58 carries but thats cause he only ran the ball 11 times. Ya....real good job front 7...over 5 yds per carry. Deficit turned the game into a gun show and Rivers didnt show up....had nothing to do with the dline.

lol they only ran the ball 11 frikken times! make what plays? the secondary made all the plays in that game....not the dline. not the lbs.

0 sacks. 4 qb hits. in 53 pass attempts.

i can make stats look good too! lol. I hear ya slick, but the chargers didnt run the ball at all and the dline didnt really have any stats whatsoever. Most of the LB tackles came from the rivers dump downs....not from the chargers grounding and pounding and the DTs eating blocks -.- Rivers averaged 5.7 yards per pass attempt which was mainly due to great coverage in the secondary and a number of pass deflections by our Cbs.

It all starts on the line, bub. They make it all happen, the reason why QB have to get rid of it quick, the reason Avril has 12 sacks, the reason the LB can make plays. The secondary played well, but its the DL that starts it all.

you still have to make the tackles...lol

in years past our LBs were washed out of plays from OLINEMEN eating them apart because our DLINE was built on the Marinelli principle of smaller and quicker.

to say the DLINE hasn'tplayed well the last few weeks is idiotic , the DTS are doing what they're paid to do....eat blockers and our LBs are doing what they're paid to do...make tackles before RBs can get to the 2nd level and expose our weak tackling CBs and Safeties.

agree to disagree

Rivers had all day to throw the ball and sucked at it. Had less to do with our dline play and more to do with our surprising secondary play, lack of accuracy from rivers, and quite a bit of dropped passes.
