During a Wednesday appearance on the conservative radio show ?Faith & Liberty,? Rep. Michele Bachmann accused the ?gay community? of pushing ?deviancy,? ?tyranny? and child rape.

The Minnesota Republican warned that the gay community will ?abolish age of consent laws, which means we will do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually. That?s the deviance that we?re seeing embraced in our culture today.?

She also predicted that gay rights advocates will legalize polygamy and enact ?hate speech laws across the United States? in order to bring about ?the rise of tyranny.?

The Republican congresswoman and former presidential candidate*once again*attacked the Supreme Court?s decision striking down the federal component of the Defense of Marriage Act as a ?denial of equal protection for all Americans.?

?This is a revolution that we are encountering now,? she said of marriage equality. ?For all of the thousands of years of recorded human history, about 5,000 years, there is no instance of any culture, nation or tribe ever having as the established standard for marriage anything other than between man and woman. It may have been multiple women and a man, it may have been something like that, but it was always between men and women.?

She decried marriage equality as a ?radical experiment? that will have ?profound consequences:? ?I think that nature tells us, our biology tells us that marriage is between man and a woman, when we tamper with something that was generated by the Creator of the Universe, I think there are profound consequences that we haven?t yet realized.?

After all that, Bachmann insisted that she was communicating a message of love for gay people and that conservatives must show the nation that God ?is so much more powerful than the evil we see unleashed upon the world today.?

?Our message is to spread goodness and joy and wholeness and healing, and we do that through a loving God with a message that frees people, it doesn?t enslave people, we shouldn?t fear giving out this very good word,? Bachmann said. ?It takes these concepts for the purpose of bringing liberty, joy, healing, wholeness and a fresh way of thinking for people?s lives.

you can pray the gay away....didn't you know? It obviously worked for her fag husband....

I am now more dumberer after reading her comments.

5000 years of Human history. She doesn't believe in Sumerians it appears.

Too bad that those sub-zero MN winters apparently frostbit that minuscule amount of gray matter that is rattling around in that huge skull of hers, Bachmann might not have those debilitating headaches that incapacitate her for several days at a time.

I hope she gets hit by a train.

I think I was early 30's when I stopped wishing death on just about anyone else. I certainly love the 1st amendment and am glad to live in a country where she can espouse her views on this kind of "stuff".

Regardless of what "she" is - think about the people who voted for her - time and time again. Millions of people heard her message and said "YES! That's who I need to represent me!"

That's the kind of thing that should make you not want to sleep. Because you're surrounded.

Mmmm...more like gerrymandered (@ least in her 6th district) This batshit-crazy shrew wanted "certain members" of Congress (ie..Democrats) to be investigated for their alleged "anti-American" activities and beliefs. She would enact or vote for legislation, such as eliminating minimum wage laws, that would threaten the health and well-being, if not the very lives of tens of millions of US citizens.

I still say the people I'm more afraid of are the ones who voted for her. I am more likely to encounter them in my daily life.

Well...most of 'em are Fundie fanatics who believe that Armageddon is imminent, and they will be blissfully raptured into the heavens beforehand, so why they are so concerned about the supposed evil increasingly pervading society nowadays? Seems like that would accelerate their eagerly anticipated "fate date".

But they must say and do the right things or they won't get to go along. Their God knows if they are humming or actually singing. He sees them when they're sleeping, he knows when...wait...different guy...

Not to imply that she isn't crazy, but I think the Sumerians is where where we get the 5,000 number. They get credited with the oldest writing and the wheel, which I think I'm aware of because it's stamped into the concrete on a timeline of inventions at Disney World. Or maybe I'm missing your point. That seems likely.

Not to imply she isn't crazy but there are only 1.6mm people in America who earn the minimum wage. Getting rid of it would not threaten the health and well being of tens of millions of US citizens.

You're an idiot if you don't think eliminating the minimum wage would lower nearly all payrolls, effecting tens of millions of people. Come to think of it, you're an idiot either way.

So the minimum wage is what's keeping wages above the minimum wage for more than 98.9% of employed Americans? That is so unbelievably dumb, it could only come from thumb.

It's actually a pretty simple concept.

Job A pays minimum wage, we'll call it 7.50/hr. Job B pays 9.50/hr. Minimum wage is eliminated, employers of Job A decide to lower their pay to 5.50/hr. Employers of Job B decide there is no way that Job B should be payed 4.00/hr more than Job A and cuts wages to 7.50/hr.

That's just the simplest way of looking at it, there would be many other factors. Fact is, it wouldn't just effect people making minimum wage.

If an employer doesn't have to pay $9.50 an hour to fill job B then he/she wouldn't pay $9.50 an hour. In order to believe your theory, you have to believe workers have no choice and would be willing to accept the lower wages or there would be someone else willing to do the job for less but we know that's not the case because if it were, then hourly wages would naturally drift to the minimum wage and clearly, they do not. The only reason hourly workers make more than the minimum wage is because their skills are worth what they are being paid. The minimum wage displaces low skilled workers, it doesn't lift the pay scale for everyone else.
