Looks like 2009 had a lot of o-fers.

But hey, the Tigers also have had a few players over the years who I felt that would have been better off taking one for the team by being or even asking the manager to be PH for anytime with a potted fern, bookends, or a cardboard cutout at the plate, since "it" might have been HBP or at least coaxed a BB once in a while ...lol!!
For just "some" examples: Ray Oyler, Scott Lusader, Bill Fahey, Chuck Scrivener, Steve Dillard, Torey Luvullo, Adam Everett, Gerald Laird, Dane Sardinha, Matt Treanor, Aubrey Huff, Dusty Ryan, Neifi Perez, Mike Rabelo....the Tigers certainly have had quite a few catchers, ever since Pudge left the team, and prior to Avila, who may as well just used a wooden yardstick as a bat, while at the plate...heh!!

I kept reading the story and kept thinking something is amiss. I remembered that Luis Aparicio went 0 for 40 something with the redsox back in the 71 or 72 season.
Found it.

Mmm..I think the article focused on/meant 0 for the entirety of the season, rather than the start of or during a season, KC.
Not to take away from the suckiness quotient of going 0 for double-digits anytime in a season by the otherwise great Luis Aparicio, or the Tigers' bountiful plethora of infamously horrid offensively, Tigers' players over the years, some of whom as I posted, and Rebbiv then graciously spent time researching and posted their 0-fer stats on this thread.

The OP was referring to an Ofer season.
