Battle of Winterfell

I hope when the books are written, I can get a summary.
Select the white on white text below to read it if you've seen it/don't care about spoilers.
I realize things have to happen quickly to wrap everything up in the next few episodes, but after they've been talking about battling the Night King for ages, it feels like actually battling his forces should have been more than one battle.

I guess that probably isn't a good fix for mobile...not sure what the right approach is.

Well we can't have everything. Unlike Walking dead, and Black summer it appears these dead like the night better than the day.

Never watched either of those.

When I?m devoting an hour and a half to a cinematic battle I wanna see who?s killing who.

I did like that Arya killed (or appeared to have) the Night King.

That was pretty cool.

Plus she got fucked for the first time and showed some side boob and top butt crack in last week?s episode.

That was pretty cool too.

‘Spoilers below’
I hear you T. A lot of youtube fan boys and girls hate that it was Arya that killed the night king, and they have issue with it being in episode 3 thus making Cersei the real bad ass to kill in the end. I agree I liked that it was her that killed the Night King. After she talked to Melisandre We could all guess it was her that had to do it. She was the only one with training enough to get close enough. Yeah I wish I had a ultra tv for dark shadow battles like winterfell but all in all that is just nitpicking. I loved the episode. When the Night King raised everyone again I thought they were fucked, and may have to run and retreat out of Winterfell but was happy Arya took care of that. Kind of a twist to have the defeat of that Dead Army in episode 3. How does HBO, and Game of Thrones top last night ?

*Spoilers ahead*

I have no issue with how the White Walker storyline played out. To me their defeat represents what man can accomplish when we all stop fighting each other over petty issues, and focus on bigger problems at hand. To see former enemies battling alongside each other was great. The twist that Arya kills the NK was an awesome surprise (even though yes they foreshadowed it heavily earlier in the episode). Having Jon Snow do the deed was too obvious and the show has never done obvious stuff.

The author's story has always been about humanity and these human characters, so I never bought the theory that the white walkers would "win" at the end. The show should end focusing on the humans.

Hey that's cool, just throw those spoliers out there and make that hour and a half watch a waste for everyone.

I agree with you. You are spot on with this take.

Did I spoil it for you?

We both know the answer is “no.”

Did I spoil it for anybody?

You should know that the answer is no.

There is nobody who cares that didn’t watch the show before before I made that post; in the unlikely possibility that there is someone - why on earth would anybody look at this thread before watching the episode, knowing that there could likely be spoilers?

Don?t you think that now that the existential threat is over, they?ll go back to their feuds with each other?

I really am not sure how it will end. Obviously they will have to deal with Cersei and play out the other obvious dramas that have yet to be tied up like Cleganebowl etc.

I would think when it's all over some bigger lesson will be learned (maybe there are no more kings/kingdoms)? We can't forget our histories, and we must learn from them sort of thing. There's a popular theory that Sam will end up chronicling everything and actually write the literal "Song of Ice and Fire".

It's possible Cersei goes Mad Queen on everybody and torches kings landing to the ground. So she succeeds where the White Walkers failed in total destruction. Humanity is it's own worst enemy type of message?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I think the over arching message is if you have a body that movie producers will pay you to expose naked, just do it.

The opinion in the self quote above, along with that expressed in post #4, is confirmed as having been shared in not only that which is here linked to but also in numerous other reports regarding reactions of fans as to the lighting and cinematography of the episode.

Also at the same time that I was being accused of “spoiling” the episode for the legions of fans that discussu this show on the Detroit Sports Forum, there were numerous other-obviously less important and influential entertainment media outlets, but pretty much all
of them, nevertheless-that were simultaneously reporting that Arya Stark indeed had disposed of the Night King, thus ending the war with the White Walkers.

I suppose this is the lesson that we can all take from this episode-pick your battles wisely.

Spoiler Epoisde #4

I am so tired of bad war game planning. Oh let’s just fly the dragons together and get killed by a opulent of arrow on the way south. They would be more careful. Frustrating episode.
