If msu hadn't lost to notre dame what do u think their rank would b? Also can msu get into a bcs.bowl?

Wed be 4th, the worst of the undefeated teams due to schedule and where we started.
As for the bcs bowl, we need to beat osu. I see the orange or sugar taking Wisconsin over us if we lose unfortunately

I would prefer freakin' Sparty beats freakin' OSU in the B1G Championship game, should the two play each other; which the two will.

Not that I expect any Sparty on this board to give a rat's behind about my preference.

has MSU ever played in a BCS bowl?

I don't even know how many my school has played in.

I think there is a very small chance that if they lose to OSU that they get a bcs bid. Whoever does get the bid will probably play Clemson in the orange bowl if I'm not mistaken. Wisc or MSU should man handle them.

I was hoping thay mn would beat Wisconsin yesterday, that would have been ideal. We still have a good shot against osu

Back in 82, if coach would have put me in wed have won state and then I'd have met my soulmate

What happens if MSU beats OSU? Is it possible both OSU and Wisc go to bcs bowl games or is that not possible?

I don't think you can get 3 in unless one is in the title game but if we beat osu I could give a rats ass about where the others end up

To be BCS Bowl eligible I think its the case that a team has to ranked in the top 14. May be wrong but, again, I think all teams in the top 14 can be selected at large. I think it is also true, however, that conferences can have only two BCS representatives.

Until the new system kicks in there is exactly one scenario where 3 teams from one conference can play in a BCS game. If a team is ranked in the top 4 but not a conference champion they automatically get an at-large bid regardless of anything else. This could have happened 2 years ago when Alabama and LSU were ranked in the top 4. If Georgia had upset LSU in the SEC CCG, Georgia would have grabbed an auto bid, Bama was already in the top 4 and LSU, who was undefeated at that point would not have likely dropped out of the top 4. All 3 would have been in the BCS.

On another note, I noticed the SEC poll bias rearing it's ugly head again. You've got Auburn, who needed the miracle of all miracles to win at home vs an injury decimated Georgia team last week and whose only impressive win was beating TExas A&M on the road, and Missouri who has beaten injury depleted teams all season both sitting there in the top 5. Both have also managed to avoid playing any of the contenders in the other division, yet there they are ahead of all the other 1 loss teams lurking to steal a bid into the championship game if some other weird things happen. Certain SEC teams falter, they just find some others to put in their place.
I'm pretty certain just looking at the eye test about 3 Pac 12 teams, and probably Okie State, Baylor, and Clemson would wipe the field with either team, and I'd like Wisconsin and/or MSU's chances as well.

the mantra coming from MD this week is that we are playing for a BCS game against Minnesota, he's saying that we'll start worrying about the rose bowl next week. it's not like he's conceding a loss but i think he's using the bcs as motivation in a somewhat meaningless game against MN

worst of the undefeated teams except for the 2 undefeated teams that are ranked lower than us now...

Georgia had most of their players back for Auburn and to be fair, most teams at the top of the B1G have avoided playing each other this year as well. One team in particular comes to mind...

That said, I see no reason to think we can't win the osu game - i'm not buying into their hype. They play in the B1G afterall. To me they are the notre dame of 2013.

MSU is currently ranked 11th, Wisconsin 15th. Assuming both teams with this week, the difference in ranking will likely stay the same. A loss afterwards will probably drop us 5 spots, so Wisconsin would end up higher ranked. I can't see the BCS bowls taking more than two B1G teams given the perception of the conference, and they would certainly take the higher ranked Badgers over us if they even took two.

MSU's only chance to play in a BCS bowl is to beat OSU.

Don't assume a 5 spot drop. A lot of other teams are going to be losing too
