Dantonio says Bennie Fowler could get a sixth year if he wanted one, because of injuries. Doesn't mean he'll seek one, but ...

More on Fowler sixth year: "I think that would be up to him. We would do that..." He will graduate mid-year, "but we'll see."

Kid deserves it, is not an NFL player yet, another year could change that for him. Would mean we would lose zero WRs in our rotation, actually zero skill players on offense would be leaving. 3 of our 8 rotating O linemen are graduating, that's all we lose on offense.

O line of Conklin, Allen, Jackson, Kruse, and Clark will be solid. They'll start rotating Kieler, Higgins, and McGowan in too.

The ofense has improved a ton, another year together and they could be very potent next year, maybe top 30 nationwide.

Speaking of receivers, will De'Anthony Arnett ever amount to much? He was a 50-60 nationally ranked player coming out of high school. I know last year he didn't know the play book, what's the excuse this year?

He's reshirting this year. Was the smart thing to do and from all accounts he's taken it as a chance to get better. He's added muscle and is up to 190 lbs, he was named Scout team offensive player of the week 3 times. So yeah, he's set up to contibute next year. He'll have 2 years left of eligibility next fall.

Speaking of the scout team, we know that what the coaches say generally pans out, for instance we heard that Shilique Calhoun, Jack Conklin, Trae Waynes, Ed Davis, Jack Allen, and Damon Knox were all monsters on the scout team, they're all very good to great players for us now.

The next group of players from the scout team to star will be DE Demetrius Cooper, they almost burned his red shirt this year, he's up to almost 240 lbs at 6-6, going to be an elite speed rusher. Damien Terry, enough has been said already. DT Noah Jones, has been a lot to handle for the 1st team O line. LB Shane Jones would be playing if not for the great depth we have at LB. OL Dennis Finley, said to have improved and bulked up nicely. Gerald Holmes has also played well.

I read a great quote about how Dantonio keeps rolling out these "ready to dominate red shirt underclassmen." a good example is Ed Davis, he's buried behind Max, T Jones, and Denicos but he had 2.5 sacks against Michigan, that's not saying much because our scout team protects the qb better but he's still a beast.

Johnny you mentioned Terry, is it possible that he won't start until his redshirt junior year? I think Connor Cook has solidified himself as the starter for the rest of his time here. And I also think that'll force O'Connor to transfer.

Terry will compete with Cool next year. Don't count out O'cconner yet, he's also a great talent. But Terry appears to be capable of Unseating Cook IMO. It's a good problem to have. I think Terry plays next year, one way or another he has a role.

I don't necessarily think Fowler should seek the 6th year unless he's going for a graduate degree. He's not an NFL player, full stop. He doesn't have NFL caliber hands, he doesn't have great size, and he's not going to put up big time speed at the combine. I don't think he has an NFL future at all unless he goes into coaching or training.

A 6th year would be nice for us, as we can't have too many capable WRs, but another year of football rather than getting real work experience or further education doesn't benefit him much. I would much rather Fowler make something of himself as a person than just make me feel a little bit better as a fan.
