Webvideo Highlights from the Tigers 11 - 0 win over the bluejays.
Michael Fulmer: Six scoreless innings with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed. He walked three and got just 12 swings and misses, but he managed to keep Toronto guessing.
James McCann: Hit a three-run homer to left, giving the Tigers the early lead in the second. He later doubled in the seventh.
Justin Upton: Knocked a two-run shot just over the right field wall in the third. He also singled, walked, and stole a base.
Offense: Six Tigers finished with multi-hit games. Four of those drove in at least one run, and three drove in multiple runs.
STREAKS AND STATS:
With his six scoreless innings on Monday, Michael Fulmer has 22 1/3 straight innings without giving up a run. Only 2 w/ longer streaks are John Hiller (28.2, 8/10-8/29/67) and Victor Santos (25.0, 4/11-5/18/2001).
He last gave up a run on May 21 against the Rays in the sixth inning. That is the only run he's allowed in 27 1/3 across four starts.
Fulmer also leads the team for the current longest scoreless streak of any Tigers pitcher. That did belong to Jordan Zimmermann, who had gone 19 1/3 scoreless, until Fulmer overtook him on Monday.
The Tigers have driven in 33 runs in their last four games, 8.25 runs per game. They also have 49 runs in their last seven, or seven runs per game.
The 11 runs driven in by Detroit are the most they've gotten in a game in 2016, setting a new single-game high. It marks the highest-scoring game since the Tigers destroyed the Cubs 15-8 on Aug. 19, 2015.
The Tigers finished with 15 hits on the night, tied with the April 16 game for second-most in a game this year. Their record is 18 hits on April 29 against the Twins.
The Tigers shut out the Blue Jays at home for the first time since July 1, 2003.
The Tigers are back over the .500 mark for the first time since their brief stay on May 27, when they were one game over.
Some pretty incredible numbers for Tigers rookie pitcher Michael Fulmer over the past four starts: according to ESPN Stats and Info, Fulmer has an ERA of 0.32 ERA and 0.64 WHIP during that span. That ERA ranks as the best in MLB in that time frame (since May 21). Another interesting note from ESPN Stats crew: Fulmer three 17 of 22 first-pitch strikes (77%) tonight as opposed to 54% and 48% in pat two starts. So he's having to battle from behind less. Making things easier on himself.
People will talk up the K's during his 4 start hot streak, but the bigger Michael Fulmer news is his stats versus lefties in that time: .081 BAA (.140 afforded to righties), .135 WHAV (.195), 50.0 GB% (51.4%).
Rookie pitcher Michael Fulmer admitted he didn't have his best stuff tonight. Not happy with walks, said his fastball command was " a little out there." Pretty remarkable considering his final line, which featured just two hits in six shutout innings. Said Fulmer: "All that matters is that 'W' next to the Tigers name."
