Boesch looked clueless tonight. When do we send him down or trade for at least an average outfielder. I have been patient but he can't field or hit!!

I don't know why but I think he deserves more time. At least until Dirks is back. Not like we have minor league OF roaming the farm system. Unless you want k king Matt Young back.

he's not relaxed, playing too tense, not aggressive with the swing, I recall an article few weeks back saying something about how he never smiles, some of the guys try with no luck to get him to loosen up etc.. not sure how you fix that but he's still young too early to give up on him.

I don't see him smile either. Should make Bob happy ;-)

I laugh all the damn time... I find everything funny... Even when I jam my knee or stub my toe...then i look to the heavens and yell why!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)))))))))

BB has not recovered from the surgery.. Only thing i can think of...

in 2 years of watching him nothing has changed at the plate... what use to work last year doesn't work anymore cause the pitchers have all adjusted to him, now it's his turn to adjust but he won't.. the same long ass swing trying to kill the ball. If I was Leyland I'd sent him to Toledo as soon as Dirks was ready. just my .02

How do you know he hasn't adjusted. Guys through-out MLB have swung at the high pitch. That doesn't bother me so much. Its the ones he's flailing on to left field and not getting much oomph.

He's just in a bad spot right about now. But right now, there is no one else. When Delmon can occupy a spot, I guess BB can.

When Dirks comes back I expect he gets majority of the starts, because he was on fire when he got hurt. But that could be a while.

Boesch sucks, thats really all there is to it. He had a couple of hot streaks in the beginning of the last 2 years (and a couple very short ones this year) but has completely sucked at all other times. The longer he sucks, the clearer it becomes that his hot streaks were flukes. He is basically a left-handed Delmon Young.

I would be satisfied with Dirks, Jax and Berry in the OF....not a lot of power but tons of speed. This is the line up that I would put out there vs RHP. Probably not very popular with most but I like the idea of having Berry lead off and Jax hitting 3rd right in front of Miggy.

Berry
Dirks
Jax
Miggy
Prince
Avila/Young (DH)
Peralta
Laird
Rayburn / Santiago

The thing that is going to help him right now is a little bit of luck. Flat out he just needs things that can go either way to go his way for a couple of weeks and his confidence will improve (so will his attitude).

Last year he was good most of the year before his injury. If you're going to flat out lie, you might have better luck on a non-Tigers board.

The problem with Boesch is that there is no middle ground with him. The highs are too high and the lows are too low. When he's lost, there is zero chance he will have any success at the plate whether that be moving a runner up or driving him home. You can see it in his face and I hate when you know the guy has no confidence. When he's going, he gets on a tear unlike anyone else and sets these high expectations for himself and fans alike. It would be nice if he could just find any kind of consistency. I'd take 1-4 from him every night if possible but I know thats wishful thinking.

Wrong. He had one pretty good month (april), one great month (june), one absolutely awful month (may), and one bad month (july) before he got injured right at the beginning of august/very end of july. He was really streaky and had already cooled off by the time he got injured. Given how awful he has been this year, how awful he was the entire 2nd half of 2010 and the fact that he was already tailing off before his injury last year, and his inexcusably awful defense, i feel confident in saying that he sucks.

Total he's had 4 good/great months to 8 awful months plus his 2 months of injury at the end of last year. id say the fact that he's had twice as many awful months as good ones in 2.5 years is decent evidence to go along with his career numbers: .261/.318/.418/.735, .321 wOBA, 98 wRC+, and a career WAR of 1.0 to go with ****ing pathetic defense.

Seriously, he's a left-handed Delmon Young. Their career numbers are almost exactly the same.

I've seen enough of him to know as OF goes and hitting suckiness go, he's not at the end of the barrel, yet. He probably does need to go to Toledo or as a part time player but the Tigers don't have any other options.

Dirks is out, Eldred is in Japan, and the strike out king Matt Young is pathetic. Of course we could go Raburn and his .160 back to full time.

We got nothing.

If we're going to have an outfielder thats not hitting, it should at least be one that can field the position (Raburn) rather than one that cant (Boesch).

Is the difference of minus 160 OPS make up for a tad of defense?

this is, of course, dependent on raburn heating up at least a little (which he has shown some signs of since coming back). but his defense is unquestionably quite a bit better. boesch doesnt make that catch the other night. raburn makes a few gaffes every now and then, but he is definitely above average in the outfield, especially in left field.

I've been hearing a lot of ifs on Raburn lately.

Btw, did you see the catch he made last night it looked good.

Of course you must forget the ones where Raburn mis-jumps by 6 feet as the ball caroms off the wall.
