Bowl Committees on PSU

So with Penn State bowl eligible and even a possible B10 Champ and BCS rep, will Bowl Committees want to invite them?

Do the corporate sponsors who run the Bowls want weeks of sex abuse scandal talk associated with their Bowl?

If you're Penn State do you politely decline? I realize it is "unfair" to the players, esp the seniors, but the PR side of the scandal would seem to carry significant weight for the Bowls.

Thoughts?

If they clean house before then and bring in an interim staff, I could see it possibly working out. The topic would inevitably come up in the media, but I think most people would be able to separate things and give the players a fair chance. As it is with JoePa and the gang hanging on for the rest of the seasons, I could see the bowls not wanting PSU to play.

I think they should go to a bowl. This mess has nothing to do with current players. It would be tough to penalize this team for transgressions of past coaches.

Liberty Mutual has already pulled advertising support for a PSU website, per Bruce Feldman. FWIW.

Let them bowl. Why penalize the players. JoePa's last game, will more than likely trump any other BS talk.

Unless there is more to come!

The interim coach, been there over 30 years. Do you think he knew anything? Hard to think there wasn't talk at least some drring that time.

There would be about as much talk of the sex abuse scandal if Penn State declined an invite for that reason as there would be if Penn State is invited and accepts.

Penn State will shamelessly go to a Bowl with the staff they have in place. What have they done that shows they understand the gravity of this scandal yet?

If Paterno had more honor he would have resigned and not forced them to fire him. It would have been the right thing to do and would have prevented the riots that have now damaged Penn State's image. But no, Joe's ego was too big for him to see what was best for the school. Joe really thinks that Joe is Penn State.

Remember a few years ago when everyone was asking for paterno's head (of course now they think he's God) but i regress. There was no way he would do that. He thinks too highly of himself. I was surprised he even agreed to resign at seasons end.

Well, what if they win the B1G?

Sure, if they win the B1G, they'll be the automatic representative for the B1G in the BCS.

They have a tough row to hoe to do that, though, looking at their schedule, and if they do win the Leaders' (how ironic) division, they still have to beat a pretty good team on a neutral field after that...

I know Nebraska is in our division but i hope they kick their ass.

I kind of thought they'd go 0-3 to finish it out anyways, before all this. I think we'll see pretty quickly tomorrow how they're responding and able to stay focused (or not)

dont' punish the players - they didn't do anything and are not the ones tarnished in this

let the interim coach coach and let them play

Cars.com pulled their add for the game on ESPN Saturday. They won't be the only ones. This is going to get bad.

Liberty Mutual pulled internet ad space from a PSU website too, I saw last night.

The point may be legit though will a corporate sponsor want their brand linked to penn st in any way. It could get ugly for them if they don't win the auto bid.

The marketing teams for PSU and organizations against child abuse need to be working the possibility of PSU providing advertisement of those organizations whenever a paying sponsor backs out of something. That would be a win-win, getting info out to the general public about child abuse while showing PSU's intention to get this issue resolved correctly.

This is great thinking on your part. Penn State needs to come out in full force against child abuse, standing arm and arm with these organizations. But, would the people buy it? We are a very forgiving society, so who knows.
