Arrested for "suspicion of domestic violence". Although he broke his hand in college punching a table this was the last person I'd expect this from. I knew some people who were close to him and they spoke very highly of him.

With the way the public reacts to these things, I'd say his NBA days are over.

Edit: Shame, I always thought (as did most people here) that he was better off being a tight end than a basketball player. He had really good hands and was a very gifted athlete.

I'd like to hear the details here but this sounds bad considering it's a felony charge.

It does seem out of character for him. Hopefully it's not true but if it is, he may still have a shot with the NFL since they don't seem to care too much about this kind of stuff. Although I don't agree that he had really good hands - he was good on ally-oop balls but he had a lot of turnovers because he didn't handle passes thrown right to him very well.

All kidding aside I hope this resolves itself.....but if he is guilty...... I hope he pays for it. That being said, Branden Dawson is a freak athlete that would be a fantastic TE in the NFL. There are few players of his athletic ability in any sport on the planet.

I've said that since he was a sophomore......his best chance to be a high level professional athlete is on the football field.

I'll even add this.......as a pure athlete (NOT a basketball player) I'd put Dawson on par with LeBron when he was 23. Just a freakish skill set for someone his size. He just wasn't very good at basketball. (Dawson, not LeBron)

i seem to recall him not handling passes very well - not the hallmark of a great tight end, but he was a solid rebounder. He averaged 2 turnovers per game at MSU - seems like a lot for a guy that didn't handle the ball much. Also, the same things that made him not a very good basketball player, like timing, positioning, basketball IQ could very easily plague him on the football field as well. You could be right, maybe he would have been an excellent TE, but it's far from a given just because he's a freak of an athlete.

So it sounds like there was a second woman involved who showed up to his house where he lives with his girlfriend. An argument ensued between the 3 of them and one of the woman, it's not clear at this point if it was the live-in GF or the gumare, is claiming to have been "pushed". I'm not condoning any such actions, but if these reports turn out to be true, it may not be as ugly as people initially thought. He was supposedly charged with spousal battery, which would make me think, even though he's not actually married, it was the live-in GF, not the gumare.

Anybody know if the live-in is the mother of his child that was born while he was at MSU? I'm hoping for his sake it is - shawn kemp went bankrupt that way and I don't see Dawson making Shawn Kemp money.

Turns out I actually have quite a few mutual friends with the victim. She's from the west Michigan area and immediately took pictures and ran to TMZ. She's a person who loves the media and tried her hardest to pose for the camera with the bruises (which can hardly be seen).

Dawson got himself involved with the wrong person.

I'm not sure I feel bad for him if he "hardly" bruised her.

That being said........its unfortunate that he got himself involved with someone who would want to make a spectacle of a bad situation.

Yeah I'm not defending him. I just think as a professional athlete you have to be careful who you keep around.

Cleared of all charges. The girl made it all up and she is in trouble now.

That's a reach, he's not guilty of anything legally but I wouldn't go as far as to say he did nothing wrong.
