I think going into the next series this is the biggest concern. Throughout different points in the season, almost everyone in the pen has failed at times. Right now Benoit looks terrible and Coke can't put together consistent outings. If I'm leyland, knowing that you likely only have Verlander for 1 start (unless it goes to 7), and you are going to be deep into the pen, I would give Porcello a shot to brigde the gap between the starter and AlAl, who I hope Leyland recognizes is a better pitcher than Benoit right now. At this point, I would prefer dotel over Benoit. Valverde gets a pass, but no longer gets a leash. First sign of troube he should be out of there. One game in a 7 game series is too important to cough up in the 9th.

They should have left Porcello's ass at home and brought another RP. Maybe they will this next series..

IMO the biggest concern would still be the lack of consistent offense. If they'd ave more than 2-3 per game on a good night the pen wouldn't stand out so much?

I agree that they should've chosen between smyly and porcello and not brought both.
