Putting all Tiger love and Yankee hate aside...who would you rather roll the dice on as a manager...AJ or Rick? AJ can be dominant when he's on but can be the polar opposite and has been of late. Rick rarely dominates a team but has proven at times to be effective. If you could choose 1 to start tonight, who would you go with.

I'm inclined to pick Burnett...I think he has the potential to shut down a line up, even if he is a head case that could blow up at any minute. I just don't trust Ricky. He's a location guy who loses his location. lol

I am really pulling for Rick. But AJ has done it before. My friends that are Yankee fans seem to think that with it all on the line AJ should be good tonight. It should be a good game.

Well, Burnett has been in the postseason before, and this will be Porcello's first appearance - Porecello did pitch game 163 in 2009, and had an OK outing.

So slight edge to Burnett on experience.

Yeah, it is all a matter of when AJ blows up. I would like to say I would pick RP, but I really don't know....I guess I would go RP because I feel like I know what I will get with him. AJ really is a toss up, and when does Garadi pull him? It would be such a tough call given how he has pitched with them.

Isn't that the same reason some gave props to CC over JV because CC has done it before?

Apples to Oranges.

Comparing a top 5 pitcher in baseball with experience to one of the best up and comers with no experience is warranted.

Porcello is not Verlander and AJ is not CC. (Skill wise)

If you have 2 average to below average pitchers, experience could go a long ways. Not saying it will but I think he has a valid point.

The point, in case you missed (you get a pass because you're still dealing with Romo) that JV was dominate this season. Triple crown, CY Young and yet people on here still said CC had the advantage because he had been there, done that.

This game worries me. Burnett had a decent September posting a 2-0 record with an ERA of 4.30. Add to the fact the Tigers always seem to struggle against below average pitchers, this could be a frustrating game. You never know what to expect with Porcello and if he doesn't pitch effectively tonight, the Yankees lineup will be teeing off.

I hope I'm wrong, because in no way do we want to go back to NY and have to face Nova again considering how well he's shut the Tigers down.

Tigers can not help burnett, by chasing curves, slider, fastballs away and/or low in the dirt. They need to swing at strikes only. Wait him out swing at strikes, work the count, get him to 90 plus pitches by the 4th/5th inning.
the yankees will be trying to do the same to Porcello who needs to pitch inside to the left handed batters with his curve and 2 seam that tails back in on the inside corner and stuff on/off the outside corner.
Porcello can't be predictable, have a good game plan, mix it up.

And honestly, do we really need to be worried? Papa Grande told us that it wasn't going back to NY. This game is in the bag. Burnett gets shelled, and Porcello pitches decently 6 or 7 innings 3 or 4 runs.

Max said he was calm on Sunday. Too calm. He said he likes to be a little amped b4 a game. So maybe these guys are less nervous than you'd think for a big game.

I think that AJ has slightly better up side at this point in his career and he does have more experience. RP on the other hand is pitching at home. Both pitchers have the capability of imploding and both offenses have the ability to mash. As mentioned earlier the 1st inning will be huge. Tigers have to be better at taking advantage of opportunities. Go Tigers.

Burnett has been way inconsistent. Id rather take the sinker baller in comerica, knowing he;ll have his 3 run implosion one inning. He usually settles down after that...

Yeah Beez, that too,
and no hanging slider, curves, and no 91/92/93 meatball fastballs.

Right now? I'll say Burnett. He was no slouch before coming to NY. New York is just a different animal and has eaten many a player who was good before and after.
