ain't out of reach, only .007 behind and a lot easier schedule than Gonzalez.

.340 Vs .333 Sept. 15th

Agon hurt is calf....so if he tries to play through it and struggles, Miggy will definitely have a chance.

Like it stopped VMart when he got hurt? Good hitters hit. Miggy needs a good 5-5 game, get caught up right away.

I was just about to start a similar thread but saw this first.

I'm gonna say Miggy finishes as .338. It just depends on if AG maintains his pace. It would be awesome if he did it though.

Maybe Chica should start a "Miggy won't win the batting title" thread.....that would make it a lock.

Lol.

agonzalez went 0 for 3 tonight, .338

Cabrera 1 for 2, .334

young 1 for 3 tonight .334

JV should get the MVP, but Cabrera is making his case. I know ESPN would hate this, but I'd currently vote it as:
1) JV
2) Bautista
3) Cabrera
4) AGon
5) Grandy

I've always felt MVP should be on a playoff team unless they completely dominate the competition. So I'd have Miggy and Agon as the front runners. With a little JV thrown in there. Put Steroid boy 4th.

Anyone think Miggy can get to 30 hr's?

I was a bit concerned back in July, his ground ball rate went up by 5 % and the flyball rate went down this year.
He was and still is or appears to be trying for more basehits than blasts,
The doubles are good, but I guess after last year and coming into his prime years, I expected him to have 30 by now.
This season the OPS is higher than the career average, OPB career high iirc, so it's not a down year at all, just in homeruns. and he could still have a few before the season ends.

He's quietly putting up some big numbers this year. He's #2 in most batting categories now. For as much hype as AGon, Grandy and Pedroia have gotten this year, Bautista, Miggy and Big Sloppy have all been better.

Big Sloppy (I like that name) doesn't get talked about much. Its all about AGon and Pioria or whatever his name is. And outside of Detroit, Cabby doesn't get talked about either.

after 9/17 games,
Cabrera 0 for 3 .333
gonzalez 0 for 2 .336
young 1 for 2 .333
Martinez .326

Miguel Cabrera now leads AL in batting at .341 as of 6th inning,

Talked with Cabrera about batting race this morning. His point: You think Adrian Gonzalez is worried about a batting title right now?
