California a Sanctuary State?

As a resident of California, I'm terrified. How will I choose which taco truck to eat at?

The whole sanctuary city/sanctuary state thing started in Los Angeles with Special Order 40.

From Wikipedia...from what I know about Special Order 40 thihs is a pretty good description:

Special Order 40 is a police mandate implemented in 1979 by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), its Police Chief Daryl Gates and the Los Angeles City Council preventing LAPD officers from questioning people for the sole purpose of determining their immigration status.[1][2] The mandate was passed in an effort to encourage undocumented residents to report crimes without intimidation.[2] The order states:
Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person.
Officers shall not arrest nor book persons for violation of title 8, section 1325 of the United States Immigration code (Illegal Entry).[3]

I think there's an unspoken conflict behind this debate, and that's making the cities/states enforce a federal law, without receiving federal dollars.

Trump is basically saying "do our job for free" and mayors and police chiefs don't want to.

of course if you're a Trump supporter, or spartanmack -who is not a Trump supporter but just happens to agree with everything Trump says and does - the only aspect of this debate you're capable of understanding is "Derrrr, non-white Immigrants bad, derrr liberal places bad. kick them out, hurr derr derr derr"

Remember that girl in SF who got murdered because that guy, an illegal, was not handed over and in-fact was released outright. That's the reason why Sanctuary City is bad.. Are you saying Major's and Police Chiefs don't have a salary? Do their job.

The refugee executive order is already being challenge in the courts and hopefully they it will be overturned as it appears pretty unconstitutional. The mayor of a Boston should run for president. That guy is pretty amazing.Pretty amazing that this administration somehow forgot about the people with visa's already who are working abroad and trying to get back into this country. Just shows the Trump swamp Critters he put in place are a just jv squad if that.

Didn't I say the tariffs were a horrible idea? Oh yeah, I did. Did I say I supported building the wall? Nope. Haven't I been critical of Trump throughout the election? Yep. I said all this on this forum but why let facts and the truth get in the way of a good smear. You're doing really well with your new year's resolution. Swing and a miss, yet again.
