Can Wings win out?

Looks more and more like they have to win out to make playoffs. With the soft schedules remaining for Wild and BJs, have to consider it likely those teams win out. Wings cannot even afford another OT loss at this point.

They have to be in playoff mode now. It looked like they were against Phoenix.

Wings and Tigers play at the same time tonight.

Hopefully the games won't get rained out.

The Wings CAN win out, but I don't see it being likely. We struggle to score and don't have an elite defense to fall back on. Also, we are incredibly inconsistent. Dropping one game because we turn the puck over a bunch of times and fail to capitalize on ample shots is literally becoming our M.O. right now. Maybe we really put things together and pull out the rest of our games, but the more likely scenario is that we drop at least one of the last three games in infuriating fashion, and we just hope that Columbus stumbles.

Don't forget about Howard though. He has been good all season and has really stepped his game up the last few weeks. The Wings have seen what a hot goalie can do against them, maybe its time for the Wings to steal a few due to stellar goaltending.

Oh don't get me wrong. I love Howard. He's the primary reason we aren't much worse defensively. Just look at how many really good scoring chances we give up each game. Look at how many times it looks like he'll get a breather while we break out only to turn over the puck and have to immediately react to a open shots. Howard as already stolen us several games that the rest of the team was outplayed.

I don't doubt that Howard will be good, I just doubt that the rest of team will hold up their end of the bargain consistently.

Howie is going to have to stand on his head because there is no doubt the Wings will give up multiple high scoring chances, they've done it mostly all season.

Who is watching the Tigers on their main screen with the volume, and who is watching the Wings on their main screen with the volume?

Hope so but with Dallas and Columbus playing each other tomorrow lets root for a Dallas win and all we have to do is tie or win and we are in the playoff according to the radio guys.. Damn but two more in a row would seal the deal... Now that would be sweet..Wish it had not come down to this though. Like we all do.. looking at all the games we had players miss this year I am thinking this may be Bab's best coaching job yet... Lot a young guys playing for us right now..

Good win tonight versus Kings, two more to go.

Announcers tonight said something odd, they said Wings were on the outside looking in. Funny but if all a team needs to do is win out, aren't they more on the inside than a team who will end up 9th unless they get help and a team beats that team that can win out and secure the 8th spot? I know the current standings had wings in 9th, but that is only due to playing one less game than the BJs. Now that the games played are equal wings are in 8 spot...so why did they say that? Oh, rigtht...they didn't do their homework.

Can't help but feel like the team is finally starting to gel. If this had been a full season, I think wings would have made playoffs as at least a 6 seed. They are finally playing more as a team as the young guys are finding their groove.

Must have been the Kings/National NBC crew , and like you said they were probably talking about it when they were in 9th place.. But even then we controlled our destiny.. I was listening to the wings feed on the radio and they were all over every in or out way to 8th place and the playoffs. Again you nailed it... Someone did not do their homework..

BTW, just have to say. I had lost faith, and I didn't think they would win out. And they totally proved me wrong. Another year, another playoff series for the Wings. Great job, boys, now beat those Ducks.
