I doubt we continue to keep Peterman, Gosder, Hanson, Keiland Williams, Best, or Stefan Logan passed this years final cuts. Burlesson, Williams and KVB could be on the outs next offseason. Leaves plenty of room to resign our young guys looking for a pay increase (Delmas, Levy, Young, Houston and Durant)

Guys like Keiland Williams and Stefan Logan don't cost much, and you need to replace them with someone of similar salary anyways, so there won't be much savings.

The Lions have over $100 million committed to next year's cap already. Cutting guys like KVB, Peterman, and Burleson would help, but with Nate and KVB, you're gonna take a cap hit due to their recent restructurings. Still, I'm with you here, but I don't think the staff will do it.

And don't forget, Avril is a FA too.

They'll have enough to sign only the guys they NEED to keep. Its why they drafted 6 defensive players IMO. They want to evaluate them and see if any can be starters next year. If so, the incumbent doesn't need to be brought back.

They still have the option of converting some salaries to signing bonuses. This years drafting of LB's might seal the fate of Levy & Durant. Gosder is done, probably even this year. Burleson will be gone or agree to a reduction in pay. KVB most likely will not be here next year as well as CW(unless he signs for 1/2 the money he is currently making)

dont tease me with a good time. I will not lose sleep over any of these guys (except Hanson who should get Mariano Rivera treatment). KVB you offer less to come back and be a positive influence in your locker room. Bye bye everyone else. caps not going up for a couple years....if these are the sacrafices we have to make to sign people that contribute then so be it.

yes because hes won so many "BIG" games for us!??? not to mention hes the ninth highest paid guy on our squad this year (that's right, the kicker is in the top 10 highest paid players on our team), so unless he comes back at at least half his current salary I won't bat an eye at him not returning.

sentiment for a kicker, lol

Don't blame Hanson much. Not his fault the teams didn't give him enough chances but he's been one of the best and I like having him on the team.

They have been short most of his career. He was never a booming KO kicker.

With a high powered offense thats supposed to score a lot im fine with letting other teams return kicks in hopes of a turnover instead of just giving them the ball on the 20 every time. The way our defense looked most of the year last year it wouldnt have mattered if they started on the 20,30,35 or the 50 for that matter lol.

i wasnt sayin all that....just saying hes been here so long youre not going to see MM or JS forcing him out. He'll go out on his own terms.

He can still kick them from 55 so I'm alright with that. We just need some better ST play and maybe his short kicks won't hurt as much.

Observation on what is usually posted on the message board here...

Hanson misses a 50 yarder: "What?! He's golden from there!!!"

Anyone else: "Gosh I wish Hanson kicked that..."

I, personally, see him going out whenever he wants, though I'd probably peg this as his last year.

Mal is pretty much right on the money there too. They could put Hanson 65 yards out and when he missed it I'd still say "SHIT! I thought he had it. Wind must have gotten it."

If Hanson misses one, I feel like the guys from Major League... "Too hard" "No, you mean too high, it can't be too hard" "First it was too hard, then it was too high".

Might be his last year, but I'm gonna miss him.

Eventually you have to replace him, why not cut him now and start working on some of our young talents extensions.
