Casserly Mock

Great talent. Unfortunately if we draft him we can only play him on third downs year one, getting the impact of a Willie Young out of our first round pick in 2013. I could see that happening since we drafted Reiff to play part-time FB last year.

He fits a 3-4 OLB best, and if he is that great a talent his old coach Chip Kelly will snap him up at 4 since they are moving to a 3-4. The guy is a 248 pound rookie facing 300 pound tackles and pulling guards in a 4-3. He only played in 11 games last year missing 3 full games and parts of several others due to injury. He is due to have shoulder surgery in the next week. NFL.com career comparison: Julian Peterson. Some see Aldon Smith, if that is the case draft him, but even Aldon Smith only played nickel rusher (third down specialist) year one although with great success (14 sacks). If he's going to pull in 14 sacks draft him.

If the above happens I say they go Ansah. Though I would be happy with Warmack. Trade down of course being the ideal scenario.

I agree with the above...if the first four follow Casserly's mock -- welcome to Det, Ansah. Better fit for the 4-3.

What if Fisher slips down to 5? Do you take him? Or ideally, that puts us in better position to trade down. Fisher may be the best player in the draft.

Fisher would be a great pick at 5. Day 1 LT who should have a long career protecting our most valuable asset. Same with Joeckel if he's there. Milliner would be an instant upgrade (understatement of the century) in our secondary. Any of the top DE's fill a need, its all about picking the right one. I totally wouldn't dismiss Jordan, especially with the Aldon Smith comparisons he has drawn. The guy is 6'6 so he has the frame to gain the weight to play in the 4-3, you just couldn't slot him in as a full time starter until at least year 2.

evfen with his height they project him to be pefect for the wide 9 or ideally a 3-4 olb. i feel safer putting him in avrils slot than a 6'2'' 240 lb guy. like cheeno said...he has the frame to add weight if we need him to.

But what happens once the wide 9 is scrapped, which I'm thinking most of us would be in favor?

To be honest I'm not sure I want a 3-4 guy that has to gain weight to do a 4-3.

He actually put on a lot of weight to get to his 248 pound combine weight. I have seen him listed in season programs as low as 230 lbs. This report had him at about 220 last season (SBNation but there are other legit reports, too lazy).

I have no doubt he can put more size on that frame with an NFL strength and nutrition program but he looks more like a small forward right now than a D-end. Personally I am more concerned with taking an Oregon Duck that high!

I'd be ecstatic.

Me too. If Fisher is gone, hopefully they can trade down and get an extra pick or two. I guess in a perfect world, providing we have enough cap space, sign Bush and Revis. We are instantly a much better team on draft day. Maybe we can snatch Hunt or Sylvester Williams up late in the 1st round. Then go get a guy like Jamar Taylor in the second to work under Revis for a year. I like Stedman Baily as a slot receiver in the later rounds.

This is my third round slot receiver.

Revis?

Revis???

How in the world can we afford Revis??????

Oh right, we just restructure everyone on the team and push everyone's big payday off till 2016. Well, that's what LKP would do anyway.

With that method, I fail to see why we cannot sign Revis, Harrison, Osi, and more!

Just pay everyone league minimum this year and push them onto escalating contracts that we will once again restructure in 2-3 years. We won't actually ever pay any of them what they are valued though. Sure we will take a cap hit with the G$, but that will be less than the actual hit and we're paying everyone league minimum every year anyway to offset the G$ so it will all work out, no problem.

I really hope they messure both Joekel and Fisher's arms. I'd really hate to pick another future guard with the first round pick. :hehe:

Better measure their hands too. If we pick either of those guys we're just as likely throw them in at TE year one.
