Wow. Great find. That's an Olive all right.

Now I'm missing my dog again.

did he pass on? you mentioned he was getting old a while ago.

I miss my dog too.

we started talking about getting a new pup, but we may wait until our youngest son turns 2.

Wow. Great find. That's an Olive all right.

Now I'm missing my dog again.

I had a dog, Dutchess, a white German Shepherd mix, who died about 12 years ago; she had been kind of a movie star, Anthony C. Ferrante of Sharknado fame had used her in his low budget horror films.

I was pretty busted up; but I happened to encounter this guy shortly thereafter who had a very similar kind of a dog, a white husky shepherd mix named Jasmine; she was six months old.

Anyways, fairly soon he called me - I had told him about Dutchess - and he asked me if I wanted to take Jasmine - she was a bigger dog than they wanted; turns out; they were going to get a cocker spanie instead.

So I took Jasmine and she took to me pretty fast and I did feel a lot less bad over Dutchess.

Anyway, within about a year a shepherd who had been rescued as a stray came my way, via Barbie Niven's daughter, and I took it for a little while, and she turned out to be a foster fail.

I named her Hannah.

Jasmine had hated to be left alone and so I used to take her to a doggie day care. I took both for a while but Hannah started to get aggressive with other dogs who came near Jasmine.

So I left them home, and sure enough, Jasmine didn't feel alone anymore when people were gone.

Anyway, just about a year ago Hannah fell over dead.

I felt pretty broken up; but more I was worried about Jasmine suddenly losing her life partner.

So I rescued another shepherd, Ruby.

And I miss Hannah a little less, and Jasmine seems happy with Ruby.

I don't know how long you haven't had your dog...that pretty golden retriever...but...maybe it's time again.

Yeah. It was a slow degenerative thing where I had to evaluate his quality of life and make the call when the time was right. I think I cried more over making that call than I did over everything else in my life put together, including all the sad situations involving people, family. Probably by a factor of 10. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Anyway, it is time for another. It's been 8 months and my wife and I have been taking classes to learn to raise puppies for a seeing eye dog program. I have no doubt it will be hard to give up a dog after 18 months, but it won't be harder than what happened earlier this year.

Well get one of your own to keep though too.

I know a lot of people who train dogs and foster dogs and run dog adoptions and dog day care centers, and every one of them has their own dog.

This is a little weird, but it's not that weird.

When I got Jasmine so soon after Dutchess passed, seemingly through random chance, people would say "Dutchess sent Jasmine to you..."

I don't know.

But you're a spiritual person; you could view your next dog as being part of a process that the soul of your dear departed sweet IPA drinking golden retriever is involved with; who knows?

I like to feel that Dutchess and Hannah and the foster fails who died in my arms are still a part of me.

yeah, it is. one of the best shows I've ever watched.

we need to find a way to watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons. watched season one on netflix.

Season Two should be available on Netflix at the beginning of February; it's already been on regular television I guess, AMC.

I'll binge watch watch season 2 when it's released and set my DVR to record the episodes of Season 3 on AMC.

I'm not sure how much my spirituality had to do with it. A lot of the time I was just awed by how positive his attitude was. People are too aware to be that positive.

I just wrote and deleted and rewrote and re-deleted some thoughts on why it hurt a few times. I've put some thought into it, but I only have the starts of ideas. I don't have any complete answers or explanations for why I reacted the ways I did or if it's the right way or the wrong way to do it. It was the right way for me. Still hurts. I'd still do it again though.

Apparently, there's a risk if you get into raising several guide dogs. They work for about 8 years and then retire. Often, retirement means going back to the original raiser. So if you do this for the long haul, you not only give up your puppies at around 18 month, but you can have a series of older dogs you can't say no to coming back and go through the last years of their lives.

Well of course his attitude was positive.

He was a loved and cared for dog who even drank beer (IPA, no less) with his person.

Who had it better than him?

I like you but you're crazy.

And also you don't know what you're talking about.

There is no way anything can be delayed because constitutionally Barack Obama is termed out at noon Eastern time on January 20 of 2017.

The duly elected president elect of the United States-which is now officially Donald Trump-automatically assumes office simultaneously as Barack Obama is termed out.

There is one single ceremonial event on January 6 where the vice President of United States counts the votes of the electors in a joint session of both houses of Congress.

In 1988 George HW Bush would have counted the electoral votes that they declared him the president of the United States or the president elect officially.

I would you have to look back in time or maybe byco could step up but I think we might have to go back to Andrew Jackson in 1828 when the vice President counted the votes that actually made him the president.
