Chicago 2 Detroit 0 Final

Detroit tried in the second half of the third.

They were mostly meh in the first 2 periods.

Mantha back with Larkin did look good.

Need more guys to get in front of net.

Goalies seeing everything, even the weak ass point shots Detroit is known for.

Kurashev walking through the D was a great goal for him, but a massive embarrassment on the D.

At least they're competing a bit better than last season. Though I'm not sure if they improve from last season. Which I thought was a given because they were so bad.

They have improved 5 on 5 play.

PP still sucks, and most the guys standing still on PP unit 1 doesn't help.
These guys can't even be bothered to move into open passing lanes on the PP, at least 2nd unit tries.
The whole back pass certainly ain't working. If they use variety they can exploit. The reason why backpass works for other teams is:

1. They don't always use it
2. The players are skating instead of standing still

When you do it every time, you know exactly what's going to happen.

Same thing happened to Datsyuk near end of his run with Detroit. He has his 3 moves of doom, but every goalie goes through SO prep before the game. While Pav is great, knowing what will come gives a lot of advantage to the goalie, hence why he was markedly inferior in SOs his past couple seasons.

Same applies to the PP. Both for break in and setup.

The wings PK is just as bad. The 1-1-2 isn't working for this team.
A traditional box or diamond is probably better.

I hate the way they do the back pass for us. They're not aggressive enough on the pk. Been that way forever. Bashill's system.
