They gave a guy that's been fired 3 times in the last 10 years a multi year deal. Why not give him the interm job and see how it went this year?

Best coaches get fired from time to time. Rangers have gotten 110 points, 107 points and 114 points last 3 seasons and there's talk he might get fired. Boston fired their coach this season and they've been great in years past. Its hockey, it happens.

Plus I don't think McLellan was here already so no way to give him an interim tag.
 
Throw enough shit against the wall and something is bound to stick, I guess.
 
The new coach was fired in for the same reason our coach was.

It's almost like you're expecting a reincarnation of Scotty Bowman. In the middle of the season nonetheless. Plus 2 years which I believe is the rest of the season and next. Good deal it seems.
