Cobb Home Run Binge

Cobb was the HOFers' HOF, much like how the late Jimi Hendrix used to entertain and thrill his electric guitar-playing peers in the late 60s.

Cobb had the highest percentage and vote total for the HOF inaugural class of 1936. Over 90 ML records at the time of his retirement.
A Human Dynamo...and....A Genius In Spikes.
All that made Cobb so disliked, was what gave him the drive to be the very best, that inner fury of all his demons could only be let out on the baseball field.
Doug,
I saw Hendrix in April of 1970 at the old boston garden...a legendary performance. and you could slice the "air" with a knife it was so thick.
Ty,
I would be remiss if not thanking you for another great Tigers story from the examiner.

I became a teenager the year that Hendrix passed, sure wish now that I could have seen him perform just once, as well as the late Jim Morrison w/ the Doors, as the latter 's concerts near "the end" were so unpredictable, as to what trouble Jim might be in the "mood" for, to screw around with his mostly stoned/tripping audiences...haha!!

The only other performer/singer that I can even remotely compare him to, as far as danger potential at concerts was a young Iggy Pop w/ the Stooges.

He was good too, a little different live than the records, imo.
Rolling Stones early 70's and again back in January 2006. Zappa every frigging year from 1970 to 1988 that he toured. We might have missed one year when he was injured or something with the Mothers was going on. Led Zeppelin once back then too. Captain Beefheart a couple of times, and Elvin Jones, Miles, Sonny Rollins, James Brown, Wilson Pickett late 60's to early 70's. Life was good back then have a blast, sleep it all off, and get up after 3 hours with road maps for eyes and go set up the mail and deliver.
Never saw Muddy live, but from his band, Pinetop Perkins, Luthur Johnson, Big mama Thornton singing with no teeth...she was gumming the words, heh heh.
Moody Blues, Ten Years After, CSNY, long list of old rock. Too many water pipes, spliffs, and hash, wine, beer, and happy pills. By the time I was 25 I did some wild stuff, not just all the concerts and paraphenalia, troubles. Young and feeling immortal, older and a bit wiser.
