ESPN is doing their best right now to tear the guy apart. They're saying he's a bit cocky.

Also read a report that an NFL executive said that he's a bit of a diva and loves the fame.

They just want something to talk about, they questioned his work ethic the other day. Work ethic? This is a kid who's spent his last 2 Spring Breaks, no hanging out with his friends in Florida, but traveling to CA to spend a week working with QB coach Bob Whitfield. He's the hardest worker we have on the team, in fact it's been suggested that he hogs the reps in practice too much because he is a perfectionist.

Let them talk, it's actually going to help his draft stock. Teams love cocky QBs.

You want a cocky and confident qb, those guys want the ball at crunch time. You almost have to have a screw loose and I think Connor does. You have to be cocky to bounce back from mistakes like he does.

Confident...yes...but not cocky. I know there is a fine line there but when I think of the great QBs I can't think of many that come across as cocky. That characteristics that I think of are calm, decisive and sure of themselves. Look at the great NFL QBs today...would you describe any of them as cocky?

Hes cocksure, most QBs are..... 2 more weeks. Hes a great leader and im sure some of the media dont like that he mentions god quite often. Now they try to paint him as a racist because of the griffin "non-incident" bwahahah.

Weve been spoiled to have this kid regardless of his loose cannon throws in some games. I hope he makes a name for himself in the NFL

Newton, Brady, Rapelisberger, Rivers, Tannehill, and MAtt Ryan are all among the cockiest players in the league. Cook has done nothing close to all of these QBs to be labeled cocky, he's confident and a hard worker.

if you think he's cocky just look at the video of him apologizing to Archie Griffin. He saw the reaction on twitter, made a point to watch the video immediately, admitted his mistake while caught up in the moment and apologized - all while still in his pads and uniform doing post-game interviews. He didn't blow it off and leave it to MSU PR people to draft a statement for him the next day. He was contrite and took the time to make a public apology - not something cocky people do. I wouldn't be surprised if he followed up with a more personal apology directly to Archie, but I don't know if he did.

I love the ass clowns like Todd McShay saying this is hurting his draft stock and his character is questionable. Maybe he forgot that the #1 overall pick last year was accused of rape, stole crab legs, shouted obscenities in a cafeteria, shot up an apartment complex with a BB gun, etc.

I didn't follow the trophy incident that closely but not once did I come across anything suggesting it was a racial move on Cook's part. Are you sure that happened? Who are "they?"

Insofar as the incident itself is concerned, I have no doubt that it was unintentional on Cook's part and yet it was bad to the extent that when Cook saw a replay, even he was mortified. Upon understanding the appearance, Cook:

1. Requested the opportunity to publically apologize on BTN
2. Called Archie to personally apologize

And after that, Dantonio called Archie to offer his personal apologies as well.

So let's not say it was a "non-incident." Way too much happened after the fact to say that nothing happened. Dantonio is Dantonio. If he didn't think it was an issue, he wouldn't have picked up the phone.

Big ten article on facebook. I saw a flurry of blacks and articles saying hes a racist blah blah , welcome to todays 95% liberal media corrupting people into knee jerk assertions ABOUT EVERYTHING. So you feel it was unintentional (yet a legitimate incident) and has really no validity given he meant nothing by it, caught in the moment etc.

Cook and Dantonio are probably worried about bad press and im sure connor was shocked people were witch hunting him for 2 days. I say its a non-incident as it was not intentional or no harm or resentment was meant. Some feel it was a legitimate incident, I just dont see it

Am I missing something? I did see the way he took the trophy and it did look awkward but come on...that is pathetic! People take away that he is a racist from that? Fucking retards!

Edit: I mean fucking slow adults!

who is saying that he's racist? i don't think any major media outlet has said that, any columnist, etc. Maybe someone tweeted it but that hardly means anything.

also, Cardale didn't even shake Griffins hand last year

Big ten on FAcebook had it right in the headlines Cooks disrespect and "people claiming racism" or something like that. Then reading the comments section made me sick to my stomach of how much of abigot he is and that was the reason etc. Twitter, message boards. No ESPN didnt make it a major headline. Its more news media than major outlets. ITs just a symptom of todays media for people to pull the card obsessively (its highly encouraged) . Hell , even Darth Vader is a "racist character" according to CNN lol. Its gotten so out of control it truly detracts from the word its passed around so liberally. There was a big uprising a few hours after we won the B10. I saw a lot of OSU fans "hoping Sparty (Spartans) loses" because of it. Im pretty sure most of us were all for OSU winning it last year. Its a non issue with attempts to blow it up for ridiculous reasons.

I agree that the pc police are out if control but I just haven't heard anything about him being racist. A few idiots make a few comments on Facebook, I don't think it's a big deal. This whole thing is way overblown, again, cardale didn't even shake hands w griffin

I thought MSU and OSU fans were kind of on the same page and cordial to each other (mostly). Couldnt believe the backlash from it. Connor was generally shocked when the announcers brought it up to him. Its all noise, just win.
