Coronainsanity

Just a 25% downward adjustment in the COVID death count for Alameda County. Probably just a one-off mistake, I'm sure the rest of the nation's counties have accurate counts that are totally reliable. The folks who doubt the numbers are still crazy anti-science conspiracists, of course. If anything, since it's only one county in the entire country, this proves the numbers are accurate.

Wow. Who would?ve thought the Covid death count would?ve been over counted anywhere.

Unless it?s just another Republitard conspiracy.

Coming from Alameda County I wouldn?t be surprised.

"The typical mask you buy in the drug store (which is not a surgical mask) is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material. It might, however, provide some slight benefit in keep out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, to Sylvia Burwell. A Sylvia Burwell was HHS Director under Obama.

And if such a mask in ineffective in "keeping out" virus, how effective is it in preventing its transmission? These are the masks that the majority of people wore and are wearing, even though the CDC clearly recommended cloth masks that are at least two layers thick.

I never bought masks in a drug store. It certainly wasn't typical. I have no idea what you are talking about. The super common, super cheap, little light blue rectangle masks that were everywhere were surgical masks. Whatever paper masks you are talking about, if they aren't the surgical masks, they weren't common and shouldn't drive the conversation about masks.

3.35 million Americans died in 2020 when 2.85 million died the year before. Highest death rate since 1918 and the Spanish Flu/WW1.

The 3-ply disposable masks that have been available for decades. Whatever they are made of. These are the masks that Fauci said were "for show," among other things, in regards to COVID. And these were featured in that fit testing video I posted that demonstrated their inefficiency.

a testing video that shows a guy vaping and exhaling the smoke, which slowly pours from around the mask, since the mask isn't airtight and isn't supposed to
be.

and that's totally analogous to real life. I know whenever I enter a store, everyone stands approx. one inch from eachothers' faces for 15 mins and inhales all the air they exhale. So that's why masks don't work...

good job. I would say "Ohio State level reasoning" but Tom Dalton got this right. What's worse than "Ohio State level reasoning"?

Yeah. But so what? You've known for about a year that's not the mechanism by which they helped. Doubting a claim that is being made would at least be something I could relate to. Not trusting authorities, sure. But that's not what this is. This is doubting a claim that isn't being made. 'Masks reduce spread by reducing the exhalation of virus containing droplets' does not conflict with the statement 'the masks don't prevent the transmission of virus sized particles'. But a year after the focus shifted away from virus on surfaces or aerosolized to smaller particle sizes, still carrying on with arguments that ignore droplet blocking efficacy makes no sense to me.

You are referring to post (#2989) That's not the video I am referring to (which was #2989). I posted that video (#2989) in response to the spray can video (also not analogous to real life) you posted to illustrate the arbitrary nature of such videos.

The video I am referring to is post #3020. An actual fit-testing video for selected masks. Which is 100% analogous to real life.

"And these were featured in that fit testing video I posted that demonstrated their inefficiency." (from #3027)

Apparently, you are presently applying "Ohio State reading skills".

The video that talks about wearing a cloth mask over a surgical mask to improve the fit?

What's the argument here?

I was doing that on my own. Seemed obvious it was a better approach. 1 mask caught droplets, 1 mask fit better.

Are you ever going to go without a mask again? If so, why?

I'm frequently maskless. I'm vaccinated and work with other vaccinated people. We still have several rules in place including a lot of mask use, but now have situations where we go maskless too. I expect them to continue to relax rules as numbers drop. I still keep a mask around and wear it in situations where I'm around strangers so they aren't worried about having to trust me. And I also read the room.

There is no "argument" save that MC was scolding me for no reason.

I used to not get the flu vaccine because I wasn't worried about the flu and it's a pain until an older person made a request to a group of people saying it helped protect the older members, and now I get the flu vaccine for them.

3.5mm people died in 2020, excess deaths on the year are somewhere between 0 and .5mm and that range can reasonably reduced to .08mm an .45mm so the COVID death counts are probably accurate. I retract my prior post.

???? Can't they simply get vaccinated themselves ????

"The purpose of a vaccine is to provide the person receiving it with immunity to a particular microorganism. " Link

Older people don't always develop strong immune responses. Also, why not help others, whether or not they have a good reason for not helping themselves? We're not talking about a lack of motivation to work here. It's hard for some older people to get out and do stuff, or remember to go out and do stuff.

oh. Ha.

well... my criticism of THAT post still stands.

I used to not get the flu vaccine because I wasn't worried about the flu and it's a pain until an older person made a request to a group of people saying it helped protect the older members, and now I get the flu vaccine for them.

And you call yourself a Christian... *snicker*.

That sounds more like socialist communism to me.

I mean the flu vaccine in particular is a numbers game. It's generally lower in efficacy to being with.
