Coronainsanity

He asks questions still nobody else is willing to ask anymore other than maybe Alex Jones but tucker isn?t a raving lunatic so the presentation is much cleaner

Not sure about Hannity and Ingram I don?t watch them much anymore. Maybe Bongino he?s pretty good also.

Sure.

But he?s never been an objective journalist as long as I?ve been aware of him; he?s always been a conservative leaning editorial journalist, which again is fine if a person acknowledges they?re looking from either a liberal or conservative perspective.

He clearly understands that paper masks are insufficient to prevent the spread or the contraction of COVID.

"paper"
"prevent"

It's not like this hasn't been discussed before. Surgical masks aren't paper. They aren't. Not made of plant fiber. 3 layers of melted, blown polymer creates microfibers that captures a lot of the moisture people exhale.

They can't prevent inhalation of aerosol virus, they reduce expulsion of large droplets. They're *surgical masks*. Not for preventing the inhalation of disease. For reducing the probability of surgeon, who would be expected to be fairly healthy, from exhaling into an opened up person some biological contaminant.

From the point of view of trying to figure out how a person could keep themselves safe, there's no research supporting the idea that they might keep you from harm. That's not what they were designed for. That's the first thing experts said about them. But, in a probabilistic fashion, they reduce the transmission rate, which is a great thing when you're trying to keep the economy going, accepting some risk, but trying to prevent as much transmission as possible.

But we've all know this for a year now. So why continue using 'paper', 'prevent', and this line of thinking about why the narrative changed? Why still say these things?

Tucker Carlson? Didn't FOX News claim in court that no reasonable person would take him seriously?

"The typical mask you buy in the drug store (which is not a surgical mask) is not really effective in keeping out virus, which is small enough to pass through material. It might, however, provide some slight benefit in keep out gross droplets if someone coughs or sneezes on you."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, to Sylvia Burwell. A Sylvia Burwell was HHS Director under Obama.

And if such a mask in ineffective in "keeping out" virus, how effective is it in preventing its transmission? These are the masks that the majority of people wore and are wearing, even though the CDC clearly recommended cloth masks that are at least two layers thick.

we went through this before... why the fuck else have doctors and nurses been wearing masks for fucking decades in operating rooms if they serve no purpose?

FUCK.

Right. I was going to refer to Trump as the last president but forgot to, and then when I realized it, I decided not to go back and change it, because he had been the president during the time which we are talking about, so either way would be fine.

Exactly, both are correct. I wasn't trying to correct you, apologies if it came off that way. just making the point that their critical thinking and journalistic integrity didn't suddenly come back after Trump left office - only their tactics have changed.

FUCK.

So they look like the actors and actresses who have been portraying them on TV, and in movies.

For decades.

Also your phrasing reads a little bit sexist.

It might not be but that?s how it reads.

To prevent germs from entering the patient's wound from the surgeon's nose and mouth, also to protect the surgeon's face from spray and spatter.

Well, they are in an enclosed, sterile field for extended periods of time, operating on people with their insides exposed. Maybe that's why.

Prior to 2020, how many doctors entered your examination room with masks on for routine doctor's visits, or even when they knew you were ill?

They?ve always come in with the latex gloves on, though...

Neither can spray cans simulate what people exhale.

You are intentionally being ignorant now. Why?

What is your goal here? There are 600,000 dead Americans, and potentially millions more than that suffering from long-haul COVID, a condition barely understood. And even among those who got sick and recovered it was no picnic; at best a week or more of being bed-ridden in misery isn't nothing, resulted in missed work, at worst weeks in the hospital, huge medical bills now.

now you want to demonize the fact that we took any precautions against it, even the most mild of them like wearing a mask when you go into publicly accessible buildings. Why? You wish more people got sick and died? Is this some batshit insane Biblical apocalyptic goal of yours?

I'm just trying to understand.

right. so that's why they told us to wear masks, to prevent those among us who had COVID but were asymptomatic and didn't know it, or too stubborn and stupid to stay home if visibly sick, from exhauling it into the air we all breathed and spreading it widely.
