sometimes people just get tested to make sure, since they might be positive and not have symptoms yet, or actually care about other people they might visit or interact with and don't want to risk getting them sick. There have been two deaths in Los Angeles county in this latest surge.

Unfortunate but a lot more people have died of a lot of other shit since the surge began.

The inventor of the MRNA vaccine would say otherwise. On Laura Ingram's show in response to Fauci's claim that cotton and surgical masks were effective in preventing the spread of Omicron, Dr. Robert Malone was quoted as saying:

That's fair, and I can understand that if your area is not going to such levels then you are not impacted by it and less concerned. Hopefully you can appreciate that those directly impacted are more sensitive to the issue.

As for the timeframe though, this has been going on for months already, it is just that they are becoming even more restricted with Omicron as opposed to less.

Vaccine passport requirements for access to public accommodations and private businesses have been in place for over 4 months now in NYC - they haven?t stoped or even slowed the spread of COVID. They?ve done literally nothing and now deblasio wants to implement a booster passport requirement which he will again require private businesses to enforce. But of course, it seems reasonable that the hardest hit areas should have those restrictions, even though they weren't the hardest hit areas when those restrictions were put in place and they became the hardest hit areas despite those restrictions. Of course, only an idiot would think those restrictions weren't effective, I mean imagine how much worse it would be if people were allowed to keep their freedom. I mean look at what's going on in Florida right now...

so based on a previous post with tons of data and other evidence, it's probably reasonable to assume that even deep blue counties like Los Angeles are massively underreporting COVID deaths. Based on the copious data cited in that post, a reasonable estimate would probably be something along the lines of 100,000 actual COVID deaths per 1 reported death. You're basically living in a death trap - a third world shithole.

You should seriously consider weekly boosters for at least the next 1,000 weeks and double masking in the shower and triple masking everywhere else. Everywhere else meaning the rest of your house since obviously, you should not go anywhere you might see another person.

Ha, no That's okay. It's an airborne virus; aerosol transmission is how it gets you, not fomite transmission. I'll just be more diligent wearing my KN95.

Why do you think I'd care what they have to say? dropping all guidance on masks to focus exclusively on vaccines was wrong.

the best analogy I've read is that it's akin to fighting cholera not be cleaning the drinking water up, but by developing a vaccine. In addition to the vaccines, we should have been pushing for better air filtration in schools and public places, and mask mandates.

I've gotten my shots and a booster, not because of their opinions but because of doctors I've spoken with, but I'm still masking up and avoiding eating indoors or drinking in bars. And of course, I don't go to church or spend my time on foolish things like that.

Of course, none of these things - even taken together - will eliminate COVID completely. That's basically impossible. But suppressing cases as much as possible will mean the difference between a pandemic that kills several million or just a million, by the time it passes.
