Coronainsanity

What's going on in Florida right now?

You mean a 948% jump in COVID cases, with people sick, queuing up for miles trying to get tests?

and what's happening with hospitalizations and deaths? In the link you posted crying about something Desantis didn't say (I'll get to that later), DeSantis makes the point that COVID ICU utlization in Florida is the lowest per capita in the country. Doesn't sound like the sky is falling.

And DeSantis finally showing up with his public health director and telling people NOT to get tested?

Who thought the message on the podium made sense for that press conference?

Early treatment saves lives... OH, but don't get tested, we're low on tests! Fuck Joe Biden!

I would say anyone who isn't an idiot would say it makes sense during a testing shortage that they prioritize "high value" testing - meaning people showing symptoms and those most at risk, which is what he said. He didn't just tell everyone not to get tested. So you're either a liar, or stupid if you're sticking with that line.

Edit: and by the way, the early treatment and test shortage are thanks to the federal government monopoly. Not sure if you also didn't understand that but Desantis made the point that when they were able to buy directly from the manufacturers for things like tests and monoclonal antibody treatments, there were no supply issues. But with their monopoly power and general incompetence, the federal government is buying all the inventory and sitting on these supplies and doling them out as they see fit restricting supply to places like Florida so they can make them look bad - and kill people in the process. Imagine being such a partisan hack that you're indifferent to the lives of humans who have nothing to do with your petty politics.

this must mean something!

It means that descriptions of hospitals being ?overrun? and ?strained? by Covid cases are dramatic and exaggerated - two out of every three ?Covid patients? would be in the hospital anyway, regardless of whether or not they had Covid.

I walked to the nearby food court for lunch today... maybe 1/3 of the restaurants were closed, and two had signs explaining staff was out due to covid. The place I usually order from (mediterranean place run by a greek guy who yells at his staff) was notably understaffed.

so... two years after this hit and we kept hearing "don't let the cure cost more than the disease" in response to the half-ass shutdowns we did, businesses are still losing money b/c of this.

who did the math on the calculations there, I wonder?

I don?t know.

Might as well blame Trump, I guess.

do you think we would be in any different of a situation if we did a "whole-ass" shut down? This disease wasn't going to just fall off the face of the earth. It's going to run it's course. The goal is for it to run it's course and hopefully not kill too many people (literally and financially)

I?m hearing some data. About a year ago 6100 hospitalizations because of Covid; today, 720 because of Covid in LA County.

We are still hearing descriptions such as ?overrun? and ?strained.?

I was wondering what the difference would be myself.

In Wuhan, people were barricaded in their home. I guess that?s pretty whole ass.

Yes. In addition to maintaining mask mandates and international travel bans... lockdowns could be gradually eased. And restaurants and bars could reopen with better air filtration... and make the air filters here in America!

We should do what China did, especially allowing police to beat the shit out of anyone not wearing masks or otherwise violating quarantine rules.

We'd be in better shape as a society if the Karen's and their male equivalents had some sense knocked into them.

Practically though, we probably couldn't do what China did, because a lot of American cops would just go beat up African Americans, whether or not they were wearing masks.

what calculations do you have an issue with? can you be more specific? And what was half-assed about the shutdowns? Were we all supposed to grow our own food for a year?

China's, and much of Asia's approaches have been sound, compared to Europe and the Americas. Just compare the body counts.

So cop beats up a guy who assaults them while resisting arrest - no good, unless it's a white guy. Cop beats up a person for leaving their house - totally justified.

It's funny and ironic that you think the other people are the Karens - it's as if you don't even know what the pejorative means.

I tip well, and don't go around berating service workers like an asshole, so, no, I'm not a Karen

we probably couldn't do what China did because a lot of American cops would have respect for the Constitution.

You're the definition of a Karen - Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people?s behaviors.

you're angry, entitled, racist, middle aged, white (not a woman but you are a little bitch so close enough), always whining about other people not doing what you want them to do (policing other people's behaviors).

Oh wait a second, in order to be a Karen, you have to have the balls to confront people to their faces. You're more of a "Karen on the Internet" type.
