Could Urban be FIRED?

Urban has always been a scumbag. Everyone with a brain knows that.

I'm 100% sure OSU's PR is already working on a spin story of how his wife knew, but she never told him. I know the text history clearly shows that Urban talked to Zach Smith about the domestic abuse in 2015, but they are going to spin that the best that they can.

Too soon to say. Urban might be able to find a way to say that he was only aware up to some point (yes, I know what that sounds like) and hadn't been made aware of the full extent of things. If he says that, and isn't pressed to clear up exactly what he was aware of, it might buy him enough wiggle room to survive this.

Or, it could buy him enough wiggle room to retire on his own terms or maybe just 'retire' to avoid more press while saving the school the buyout money.

I wonder what language is used to specify the terms that allow him to be fired without a giant buyout.

He’ll probably just say he was protecting everybody’s privacy while the investigation was underway. I would imagine that will be seen as reasonable.

Courtney Smith say she didn't tell the other coaches's wives about the physical abuse until 2015. She says Shelley Meyer said she was going to have to tell Urban about it, but she did not ever come back and say that she had told him.

Here's the text exchange that shows Urban knew. Hell, he knew in 2009. Told Smith to get counseling.

Courtney: “(Zach’s) trying to make me look crazy bc that’s what Shelley is saying (he’s doing)”
Lindsey: “He (Urban) just said he (Zach) denied everything”
Courtney: “I hope urban is smarter than that”
Lindsey: “He (Urban) doesn’t know what to think”

Courtney: “I don’t really care. Ya know”
Lindsey: “Yeah, don’t worry about urb”

Based on what has been reported, I don't think they'll fire him for this.

it's certainly troubling though. But I think, even if those texts are legit, he has room to maneuver here and claim he didn't know this or that, and tried to get help for his assistant without intervening into his personal life.

Ohio State will implement a new domestic abuse reporting standard or policy for employees, everyone will "learn a lesson"

I am curious how the 2015 incident changed from being reported as an arrest to not an arrest.

If Ohio State intervened to get him out of trouble... then yikes. they basically enabled him. if that happened... THEN Urban should be fired. I still don't think this is enough to force him out.

what a psycho. sounds like he was actively terrorising his wife; not just an isolated incident of losing his temper during a fight.

Something happened to change that arrest report.

Urban's history at UF suggests what likely happened.

so he was aware, but not fully aware

that sounds familiar somehow

How dare you question Urban Meyer about this? Do you know who he is?

I think he'll say "I don't have to disclose everything I know about a private matter to the press when I believe it's in the best interest of everyone involved at the time to keep it private. I followed internal protocol of the institution at all times pertaining to the matter.

We're probably gonna run some trick plays over the course of the season. If you ask me about they are, I'm not gonna tell you that either."

Hope not. Really want to see him lose to UM and watch Harbaugh give him the old back slap a la Jim Schwartz.

this name popping up... Hiram de Fries... sounds like a French banker or something.

He's apparently Hawaiian; former CSU football player, corporate lawyer for an oil company (I think Shell?) and then apparently a fixer or "behind the scenes guy" for Meyer, going back to Utah.
