Get StartedBet he wish he had that 50 million back.
Another one taken down by not refraining on social media, i have an uncle that got fired from his job for his politcal views he'd post on Facebook from time to time, his employer didnt like it, popular social media sites aren't worth it I'd recommend just not using them at all. Getting too political on the Internet is very dangerous, I find this reality to be very sad. Poeple should be able to express their politcal views on social media without fear of persecution, IMO
What persecution? Companies have the right to protect their brand. Having a person who represents that brand spouting opinions that could lead to loss of sponsorship and ad revenue is bad business.
There is way too much intolerance of opposing views, like I said, the popular social media sites Facebook, Twitter, etc none of them are worth the headache. I like this place, but even here often hold back on the political stuff as there is always someone ready to shun, mock and ridicule any view I express if it differs from their own, does nothing but creates enormous divsion and entrenchment. all in the all the grand social experiment prolly won't end well for anyone, destroyed by intolerance
Intolerance...like what Curt Schilling was sharing?
Let's say he had shared a completely inaccurate picture of a black man that exaggerated all of his stereotypes (big lips, nose, with a watermelon and fried chicken, while dressed in prison clothes) and the caption said, "Do you want this in the bathroom with your children?" Would you call him intolerant or the people who fired him?
He should have shared this. It makes more sense...
Your example is extreme, hypothetical and not what he said. People are way too damn sensitive, ESPN had the right to fire him, as did my uncle's employer, i'm not arguing that. I'm saying that facebook is evil the first amendment in principle is all but dead, Unless you're a politician, then you can still pretty much still say whatever you want. Hopefully someone like Trump may make it OK for everyone else again as well if he wins, I don't think he will win though, Hillary is probably going to be the next president. And No I don't think that guy looks like he belongs in the Women's bathroom.
Freedom goes both ways. Freedom to speak and freedom to be spoken against. Nothing has changed in the social media era. The only difference is that now we all have a bigger platform. It seems that conservatives have no clue what the 1st amendment is about.
I'm completely against the PC culture and I really don't give a damn what Curt thinks. It doesn't affect me at all. What I don't like is people who are shocked that Curt is being criticized so harshly and bring up the first amendment like it actually applies here. No, that protection is from the government, not from public reaction. If Curt were being prosecuted for his opinion, I'd be on your side. He's not.
Keith Olbermann got fired from MSNBC for attacking Fox News so much. I didn't see any conservatives crying about the 1st amendment back then. The outrage on your side seems to only happen when a conservative gets criticized and/or fired. That's my problem.
