Mantha was decent to pretty good most of the game. In OT dunno wtf he was doing at the end.
It was a decent effort all around.
Smith was good at getting the cycle going, his forecheck got the Wings the lead. Which is why it's frustrating Smith ONLY PLAYED 7 FUCKING MINUTES! Guy is playing great, one of few guys actually chasing after the dump, using the body, and getting a cycle going. And his reward is bench!
That 2nd PP unit looked good in the third. Guys actually moving, Brome making plays.
It was a decent effort all around.

I love Smith and I agree and I've been wanting more of him for 2 years now.

Here's the big frustration.
The Glendening/Filppula/Nielsen line played about 15 minutes of even strength and combined for 0 shots!
Their forechecking was non-existent, and that's precisely the kind of hockey Blashill wants to play.
Then you have guys like Hirose and Smith who are actually forechecking and they barely play.
Yes the Wings don't have a lot of talent, but the coaching strategy is for nothing to happen. Which is why the guys trying to get offense don't get playing time and the guys who eat minutes and do nothing but dump the puck are rewarded.
