Aoki is dealt to the Royals for a reliever.

Amazing deal for the Royals as he fills 2 voids and cost next to nothing. Would of been a nice deal for the Tigers especially at that price and cheap 1.9M salary for next season.

Is this thread topic supposed to be a catch-all for the '13-'14 off-season like MLBTR?

Rathering starting a thread for every other signing or trade, I thought maybe we could just have the one.

At some point, that Fielder contract is going to look like a bargain!

Yeah the deal makes really no sense for Cano. Low chance of being able to put a winning club on the field of a small market team especially when you factor in his salary and on top of that I mean Seattle area over NY? Crazy really as I would of much rather seen the Yankees sign him instead of what they are going to get now with more than likely Choo/Infante and recently announced Kuroda.

You would think Seattle may make some more big moves....or else it would be pointless to sign Cano to this deal. Maybe this deal signifies they are trying to make a run???

I don't like this deal (or any 10 year deals) but it reminds me a bit of us when we sucked forever and then we had to overpay for Pudge and Magglio but since them we've pretty much been a playoff and world series contender.

Mariners still pursuing free agents Shin-Soo Choo, Carlos Beltran and Nelson Cruz, among others. At least that's what is being said but I think they may be in yet ANOTHER bidding war with the Yankees over Choo's services. Unless they go 7 years which I hear the Yankees deal is for 6 at the moment.

Kurkjian said they might go get David Price.

Granderson to Mets 4yr 60 mil

Good for Curtis., but the market for the top FA OFers has now shrunk by one. Choo will likely become more pricey to acquire, and the Tigers need to upgrade in the OF and on offense. Ideally The Tigers signing Choo for RF and moving Hunter to left would help to mitigate the loss of Fielder and Peralta.

If they stand pat and fill their two remaining holes @3b and in LF with Castellanos and Dirks, their IF defense will be marginally improved. while their OF defense might stay the same if not become somewhat weaker. The offense overall may be noticeably, if not significantly weaker. The Tigers also will NOT have a bench that is capable of providing anything but perhaps "adequate" defensive replacements for the OF/IF in the event of injury or injuries.

I think Choo or Beltran ends up with the Yankees. Choo probably gets $20M a year and don't think he's worth that.

I'm glad Cano is signing with Seattle. But that's some deal..

And I'm not too surprised Granderson is getting 15 per but IMO its a bit high.

So do the Mariners and Mets compete finally?

Seattle? Maybe depending on other moves they are said to be working on.

Mets? No way to be honest they have to many holes still and will be without their ace for probably all of 2014.
