December hoops games

Strange game. Hardly anyone seemed to play well, but they were up big pretty much the whole way. Shooting continues to be a concern. Cassius's shot looked terrible.

If they're going to play Henry at the 2, they should try to get him down on the block some. Pretty much no 2 guards would be able to handle him there.

Watching Henry kinda makes me think of a smaller Dennis Rodman on offense - a freak athlete that just can't seem to harness it or get enough control of his body. Control wasn't such a big issue for Rodman since he basically just called on to finish breaks or set picks and crashed the boards on offense whereas we need Henry to be consistently reliable but as you say, he seems like he's lost out there and not sure what to do with or without the ball.

Up 16 vs NW and Loyer comes in and let's his man score 8 pts on 3 possessions and then turns it over for a breakaway dunk. 10-0 NW run in under a minute. Just wow

It's a Big Ten road win. So take it and move on and use the coming holiday time to work on some things. They couldn't put NW completely away maybe when they should have, but the NW kid went off in the second half (which seems to be happening almost every game) and pulled them back into it. I haven't seen their 3-pt% defense stats on the season, but they can't be good.

Cassius looked a heck of a lot better than he had in recent games, and that was good to see. But rightly or wrongly he needs more help from Tillman and Henry.

The team is coming around I think, there were 2 really bad couple minute stretches, and Henry had a nightmare game, but the team is starting to execute better, and the defense and rebounding is really there.

The schedule makers finally helped MSU in Big Ten play. It's set up really nice for us, the next 3 Big ten games are at Breslin vs Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. We only play Ohio State 1 time and it's at Breslin. We don't see Maryland until mid February. Plenty of time to improve, Watts should be back soon too and we need another ball handler like him.

Agreed on the rebounding. The team shot it better last night and I think Cassius hitting a couple of early 3's helped there. Too many other guys who are going to run hot and cold and that may not change throughout the season. Ahrens and Loyer stepping up and knocking down a shot or two more often like they did last night would help greatly.
