they played a killer non conference

Lost 84-80 @ Villanova
lost 80-75 @ Notre Dame
lost 76-64 @ OSU

not a pushover, they have played good teams, went 14-2 in conference. they have some decent size, one guy who's 6'9" plays a lot, they have a lot of big guys that don't get a lot of minute. they have some fouls to give against AP and other bigs

They kind of remind me of a watered down Iowa. They get off a ton of shots per game and rebound fairly well.

All I want to know is why the hell is every analyst picking MSU to win the Nation championship?

Delaware can score the ball well, we just need to defend like we have the last few games and feed Dawson and Payne. Dawson's confidence is through the roof right now.

we had a big audience yesterday, lots of green kool aid. I know we're a top 5 team and we just beat two 2 seeds but I still think Florida is the best team out there.

the good thing is that we still have a lot to improve on, we can get better over the next few weeks

Those 5-12/4-13 type of games scare the daylights out of me. Unlike when you're a 1 or 2 when you know you're pretty much going to win that first one, these games where you SHOULD win but if you play like crap, or the other team plays really, really well you could find yourself in big trouble are no fun.

Just hope I dont see the first 10 minutes they hit 6-7 from 3. Those games are a bad sign. GUARD THE PERIMETER!!!! We cant allow uncontested shots from 3' thats where teams are going to try and steal one from us. Thats and running the clock down jacking a 3 and hoping to get lucky.

Delaware put in a good effort against all those teams, there were no blowouts.

You have to love the sense of humor that the committee has ...like Michigan playing Ohio the other year.

Delaware...? So definitely on purpose.

HEH......

I don't see MSU losing this game, even if they trail at half time, unless their offense REALLY goes in the toilet through the first 30 minutes of the game total.

side note: I have a long history of MSU not doing whatever I pick them to do... I pick them to go far, they crap out early, and vice versa.

Pitt has been that team in recent years for me. Every, single, year I'd say "THIS is the year they're doing something in the NCAAs". And they'd lose in the Round of 32.

Usually for me it is SYR -- they either choke early when I have them going far or actually do well when I figure they'll just choke again.

sounds like they are a good 3 point shooting team, they get shots up quickly, #304 in the country in assists. their PG has shot 250 free throws, Appling leads MSU with 138, he's a strong guard who can drive and get to the foul line. there are a lot of things to like about Delaware. they'd have to be hot from 3 and get us in foul trouble but that's not impossible.

that loss by 4 at Villanova shows that they can play with the big boys

I do like that they traveled yesterday, get adjusted to the time zone, etc.

Looking at their schedule a little more I noticed that their leading scorer, Saddler didn't play in the games against Villanova and Notre Dame, but was in the lineup by the time they played Ohio State.

In those games their free throw totals weren't that high. 15, 15, and 22 attempts I think. And then only 17 Free Throws when they lost to North Dakota State by 19, but they did shoot a ton of them for the season. A tightly called game might get us in some trouble.

At any rate it should be a high scoring game. They're going to chuck it and come at us aggressively on offense. If we can get out and run and get the ball inside and not get sucked into taking a lot of threes we should be alright.

I might be getting carried away listening to Izzo's presser yesterday, he makes every opponent sound like the Miami Heat
