Depth Chart Released

Do they not list returners?

I'm excited to see what happens along the D-line. Obviously we have some real difference makers already, but even the depth guys (like LT) have a chance to be really good. That backup QB spot hopefully won't come into play outside of us blowing someone out, but it could be interesting down the line.

Cook is getting actual NFL buzz. If we have a strong season and he shows well, there's talk he could even be a first rounder. At that point, he may opt for the draft. I wouldn't even blame him, and I'm definitely hoping he plays well enough to deserve that chance. At that point we could have another true QB battle next year. O'Connor seems like the steadier thrower, but Terry is the more explosive. O'Connor thus makes more sense as the backup right now as the role is more suited to someone who won't lose a lead rather than someone who will build a lead.

I don't expect Cook to be as good as he was toward the end of last year, he had huge games but a lot of that had to do with our defense. we were able to win with safe play calling, not making risky throws because our defense always had the lead, we never really played from behind. You can cite a few throws in the Nebraska, OSU, and Stanford games but the play calling masked some poor decision making (like the pick 6 in the rose bowl).

also, tompkins was listed as a corner in the preseason media guide

LT weighed in at 309, my guess is that he plays inside

309?! hes gained 60-70 lbs since his Freshman year

started out as a linebacker, pretty crazy. I read something where Shilique said that he was keeping up with him in gassers at the end of practice at 309. he made some great special teams plays in the rose bowl, hopefully he can crack the rotation and start to show us something.

I know he was one of the top LB's in the country out of HS if not the best (according to scouts and ranking systems ). I hope he transitions and adds some good minutes this year. The guy obviously has the ability. He'd have to be a DT, I just dont see anyone at 309 playing DE..

Hopefully his body holds up - I'd love to see another DT like Worthy. But he's already had some serious back problems (if I'm not mistaken, they've been recurring, no?). I can't imagine adding 70lbs helps that...

Watching the Big ten championship game right now and watching the game against michigan yesterday one player on the defense really impresses me and stands out, and that's Ed Davis. He is making plays every time he's on the field. I'm really excited to watch him start this year. I bet he has more sacks than Shilique this year. Book it!!

I just read that Terry had offseason shoulder surgery, that might be why he's listed as #3. TOC may have outplayed him as well but I'm sure the injury has something to do with it.
