Detroit Lions FA Thread

but im right.

2012 - we start 4-4 and as soon as ponder and locker finish going off on our defense I stated we would finish 4-12 cause our defense sucked ass. RIGHT!

2013 - correctly predicted 7-9 and an epic collapse PRIOR to the season cause mayhew built our team paper thin and our coordinators sucked.

So say its "blind hate" all you want....but when it turns out to be accurate for going on 3 years....id say its a lot more "right" then the shit you spout off all day lol.

And Ponder didn't go off on our defense you moron in Week 4. They scored 20 on two special teams TD, so 6 by Ponder, more Peterson really. Proving you are just blindly hating and actually have no clue.

Our shitty offense had 6 points thru 3 quarters. He went 16/26 and led a bunch of 10+ play drives and won the game handedly. Stafford should try that every once in awhile! Then locker dominated us...lol locker!

I know I was all for trading up for Watkins awhile back, but now if we're going to trade up, I'd prefer Clowney. I think he could have a bigger impact than Watkins could. Although I still would love Watkins if that worked out somehow.

DE is a position you can do that imo.

Reunite Clowney and Taylor! I'm down. Even though that would mean Taylor riding the pine most of the time, and I want to see him get a big opportunity this year.

They scored 6 points. Ponder had 111 yards for the game. Petrson led the drives for 4.9 YPC. He had a monster 2012 by the way and the Lions run D was weaker with KVB and Avril. I notice you left that out. You are so delusional in your assessments.

And they had two 10 play drives. Caught in a lie hughes. The Loins defense kept them in that game. Special teams blew it. Lions couldn't finish in the redzone on O.

of course he's not going to bring up things that disprove his point. he can't lay out all the facts and be continually wrong, only the things that support his argument are actually relevant to his case.

we fucking lost to Christian ponder...what more facts do you need? lol. We had 6 points thru 3 quarters lmao. you guys are pathetic. Last year we sucked just as bad vs Minnesota. See a trend? Its not getting better is it?.....

i also seem to remember that Minny was a playoff team in 2012 (AD nearly broke the rushing record and was in beast mode all year), and we beat them pretty badly in the opener of 2013. but apparently your memory is a bit different since you say we lost to them last year (not specifying which game). selective memory at it's finest.

The Lions had Aaron Ross in for a workout yesterday as well.

It's becoming more and more clear the Lions don't plan to, or don't think they can, fix the CB position via the draft. More than likely because they intend to move some high round picks to trade up in the draft for Watkins.

Instead they are bringing in every fourth tier CB they can find in a classic example of "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks".

And I won't complain about it really. I don't think it's a wise personally, but by the same token they have drafted several young CBs in the last four drafts, they think very highly of Houston and Slay and Bentley, maybe they feel the new coaching staff can turn these guys into a real secondary... or at the very least give them a chance to prove they can't.

If they plan to move a second round pick to trade up for a WR, it's pretty clear they won't land a CB to fix their problems, so this is all they have left, cheap add-ons off the scrap heap and hope one of them can be polished into a beauty.

they have built their whole defense around a monster DLINE and getting to a QB quick and forcing bad throws and quick decisions...they seriously believe in this theory.

I really just don't think that elite CB is in this draft. Dennard and Gilbert are both starters but neither is shut down and in most drafts wouldn't be a top 10 pick. I really don't like the idea of moving up for Watkins although him wanting to be a Lion so badly is a pretty big plus. This defense just has so many question marks I don't think it would be great to get rid of a second to move up. I would rather stay where we are because a run on QBs is likely early so we will still get a good player at 10.

it might work if the D-line actually does it. You still need a decent secondary and last year the Lions didn't have one.

One reason, Delmas never looked at the ball. All he saw was the head of the offensive player..he just wanted to smash. Hopefully it's better this year..

Which is why I think our dline is an unfinished product. Jason jones has never been a hurry/sack guy. Fairley suh are what they are but we have virtually no one behind them at dt. Ansah showed signs as a rookie but will be expected to improve in yr 2. I think de is a major need to slicks point above. Kareem martin in rd 2 would be a good solution since we chose not to address it in fa.

Or, as I read in recent article, they go after a LB who can rush the QB.

Anthony Barr at #10 and Kareem Martin in the 2nd would sure change the look of the defense in a hurry.

That would immediately be a D that could get after the QB. Take that extra second off his throw, and hope the secondary stands up.

Anthony Barr in the first and Kevin McGill in the 2nd would be great too.

To be honest, I am excited about the possibility of Samy Watkins in Detroit, but the non-emotional side of me says a solid defensive draft would be our best move. All D, let the O be what it is.

this is exactly how I feel. A few good defensive players will have a bigger impact than one WR opposite CJ.

If we draft more offense its clear sign they think stafford cant get the job done to the point they need to keep adding more and more around him in order to be productive. Watkins is an elite piece that the second we draft him makes me hate the tate signing even more cause he'd be lucky to get 500 yards lol. sooo you have tp think do i want a rd 1 2 and 4 player to help my defense/depth. Or do i want 1 guy that will ensure my offense is elite, ill roll with no depth and below average defense, ill downgrade my prize fa signing to a 3 wr at best, and then after all that i have to pray stafford gets his head out of his ass. Trading up for watkins is a huge risk. Id almost rather them trade up for clowney cause it covers a more important need imo.
