Detroit Lions FA Thread

Not sure how voting goes but he was 2nd team All-Pro..I also think the old staff under utilized him with the play calling.

they do a 2nd team for all pro? If you aint first ur last!...ask ricky bobby. How do you underutilize a DT anyways? Tell him NOT to hit the qb? Cause he did that a lot.....

I don't know if he did it a lot and he would have him hit the QB more if the play calling was a bit more aggressive.

i know this is speculation but what position do you think will be the focus of next FA? DT, C, LB? etc

No way to know. Once the draft occurs and you get a idea of who isn't coming back in 2015..all speculation at this point.

Throw in who plays well, who plays poorly, who gets injured, etc.

I blame the NFL Draft being pushed back for this dead period and some of the "topics" it has presented.

I hate that the draft is pushed back into May. If they were on the old schedule they would be holding the draft next weekend!

I read there was something going on in NY and it had to be pushed back. I also heard they might keep it in May.

I do remember something going on in NY as the "public reason" they gave, but it's pretty clear, the NFL wants to spread things around and go 12 months.

Hell, I'm betting within three years they are broadcasting Pro Days on NFL.com

I was devastated when I heard the draft was pushed back till May.... Just longer us Lions fans have to wait for our Super Bowl...

More like Christmas.

We anticipate. We get excited. And then on Friday night, we get to open one gift. Not all of them... just one.

We are happy. It's a great pick. Best pick ever.

And then it breaks. And then we are sad. And then we console ourselves with the discount playdough and the box it came in.

And then we wait for next Christmas again.

this reminded me of the titus young pick. Remember how happy people on here were when he had his presser and he was SOOOooo happy and saying all the right things and soooo overly optimistic and giving soooo much praise and thanks to god. Everyone on here thought it was soooo awesome. I swear to god....I watched that and thought "that dude is bat shit crazy." lol....

You turned out to be right, but they are saying now the brain damage that caused his problems was most likely sustained in the NFL, not college.

So in theory, he wasn't bat shit crazy yet.

I was excited for sure. I thought the three early picks by Mayhew were smart picks. Shortened training time, you take three guys that play positions with a shorter learning curve.. DT, WR, and RB.

That should have helped get their rookies up to speed and on the field quicker. Well, that was a good idea, decently executed, that blew up in his face anyway.

And just think, until Titus had his meltdown, not a single one of us even knew your brain could be compressed into the front of your skull and cause you to rob people. At a minimum, we got some education out of it.

Now you got me thinking about how ugly that 2011 draft was...

Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert all taken in the first round... all busts. And I remember a LOT of us, myself very much included, thought Carolina was nuts for taking Cam, because he was the one QB in that class that clearly wouldn't make it in the NFL. DOH!

And if you re-drafted, Kaepernick would have to go #1 overall, even above Cam.

Aldon Smith... the only man in the world fucking dumb enough to tell a TSA agent he has a bomb in an airport. He's as good as cut.

Prince Amukamara was actually being physically bullied by his teammates on video posted all over the internet, and no one cared. But Mike Pouncy, also taken in that draft, said mean things and ends up in a report filed by the NFL on bullying.

Titus Young goes nuts. He could outrun a car... but not a cop.

Von Miller not only gets busted on a drug test, but gets extra games because he tried to pay the tester to lose the results.

A whole can of ugly got opened on just about every team that year, except maybe the Seahawks who landed Sherman in the 5th round.

That draft is just insane. I need to look and see if there was anything else now. Holy crap

There were some hits too. J.J. Watt, Cam Newton, A.J. Green, Andy Dalton, Cameron Jordan...

But as high as it's highs were.. the lows might be the worst in history.

Interesting tidbit. The pick the seahawks used to get Sherman was gotten from the rams who got it from us. Crazy. Also we still have a wr from that draft on our roster.....Kris Durham oh man thats rich.
